I know image is not everything "thrist is" j/k.
I'm 19, I attend SUNY ( for those of you who arent famillar-- Sate University of New York)I'm a new member, I'm Indian and Black. My dad is indian, he was rasied in jamacia, my Mom is Black. I love Balck women of any shade, and a pretty face.I lovewomen ofother races as well. AnywayI have a probelm.
In all seriousness does what you wear play any part in determining what type of girls are attacted to you, or what type of girls you should go after because of the simialr taste or potential you might have in getting with her.
For example, most black guys under the age of 25 want to dress like a "thug" whether they are one or not. I find this style unappealing and have come to the conclusion as this beng one of the reasons for myself not having a girlfriend.
I would ague that when a black girl sees a black guy wearing Gap, Old Navy, Banna Republic, etc.. They think he doesn't like being "black" or doesnt connect with the "black culture" he might not listen to hip hop, they feel like he wouldn't want to be with them or he's not "black" as silly as that sounds.
As a side note I do not listen to much mainstream hip hop, though i love older rap, the real, original stuff. The political music, the music with a message. This new age music is full of useless profainity for the sake of having it, the glorifaction of violence and sex, it's to say it simple "garbage" but thats a differnt topic.
Even further, most white girls when they see me they say i dress exceptionally well, as well as some white guys. why do black menin general under 25 want to dress suspcious. Why would someone want to portay something negative. MOREOVER, why would a female be attracted to that. Same with cars, i am an avidcar enthusiast, when i see a huge wing on a honda it's disturbing. the car is not fast why portay it as being so.
I know musch of it is preference and oppinion, i just want to know what and how this effects my chances with different types of women. do the clothes and music i listen to determine the type of girl i get...? Oh another side not, some might think im "trying to hard" in the way i dress, when in fact i just like feeling good.

I've slightly contradictory views on this......on one hand I was musing only yesterday what I would have done differently in my life given the opportunity (I'm now 50 lol) and one of my main amendments would have been to dress generallymore stylishly HOWEVER many times I've hardly made any effort at all over the years and been successful with Ladies when I've least expected it or tried for it.......its a funny old World

Hi... I think that girls are attracted to the thuggish look because that is what is portrayed in the media as manly. Just look at programs on TV, the amount of rappers who talk about running the streets but still having a heart, and the most recent example I can think of: the song 'Soldier' by DC. I used to be attracted to boys (that's all they proved to be) who dressed 'gansta' and talked in slang, but it got me nowhere.
I think that the way you dress is very important, andfor some people, the brand is too. Yes, the type of music you listen to and the clothes affect the type of girl you get. It's just that way because appearance is the first encounter and therefore the easiest and simplest way to judge.... but don't stop dressing the way YOU want to niceone.gif
Time is for wasters,
Opportunity is for seekers!

Depends on the type of woman.. I find the thuggish look idiotic myself, and women who go for that look ain't too bright themselves anyway. I can't help but walk by those people and laugh. Because it ain't manly, it's completely stupid. Too be honest with you chap I find people, especially males who dress to impress other peoplemisguided anyway. Focus on impressing yourself first then you'll impress others similar to you. Nothing more gay than spoting a group of lads that all dress alike. I just think boybands. And spotting a bunch of girls all tarted up similarly doens't exactly scream mental stimulation.

But fortunately we can do things completely out of uniform. So you should probably use the art/torture of buying clothes to express your individual personality. I'm not too sure if people do that however, because far too many people look the same.

wear what u want... period!
too many times black ppl got sutin to say about how another black person is dressed! my question is why??
the answer to that is because the media tells and shows black ppl how to dress... agree or disagree but too many times mtv base and channel u are theglossy magazines that show young bredas how to dress... i'm not saying like akakademiks and ecko etc are bad to wear but when thats just ur garms for da week then it shows ur lack of style and originality. what happened to black peeps being original... some ppl think thats dressing black... but what if ecko and akademiks was designed by white ppl who are probably laughing at us for thinking we are wearing black clothes...
my advice is wear what u think ur comfortable in... man dem u wouldnt wanna check for a gyal who wears tracksuits everyday so why are u??

I think that guys that dress up like a "thug" should be shot.
Why can't people dress normally?
But then that's what people say to me, when I walk around in my grungy baggies and my band tshirts.
Each to his own, I s'pose.

Bit contradictary there adaze?
What is 'dressing normally'. Normal is your subjective opinion and one of another. What you find normal is different from another person's normal.
I do agree that the "thug" look doesn't go for me. I don't want to get on a bus and theres about 20 other boys looking just like me.
I've noticed in the short time I have been here, many perceived problems lead to the media portrayal of black people and its the same for clothes and music...
Still going...

come on.....you're too old to have to ask on this.
girls like whatever is the most shiny, accepted pop culture image of the time. sadly enough, women have nothing but horny men throwing themselves at them ona daily basis. It all comes down to how you market yourself. a true creep needs to know his audience.
dress how they expect you. you're not in it for you.....you're in in to get laid and perhaps find someone woth having a relationship with.
dress for the occasion. If you dress well, keep dressing well. But no one will date you if you show up to a club or bar in slacks.

Here's a tip - if you dress smartly, some women will clock on that you're quite successful and sophisticatedand will swarm onto you. Don't take my word for it though and I think it'll be mainly older womenfedupof 'boys'...

werd.
girls love money more than anything. since a good looking girl can get laid several times a day from several different people if she wants, getting a man isn't a problem so there's no desparation. why settle for some broke mutha?
I don't blame 'em. Personally I dress well, drive a nice car and then after I hit it they learn I have no cash to spend on their stupid Tiffany bracelt.
and then I win! yay me!

MEDIA MEDIA MEDIA!
Is all that i can say. Im not a male so can't answer why u guys dress the way u do..but frommy female observations. The thuggish look is influenced by america. I was in america the later part of last yr and came back find the exact same look. I had to rub my eyes afew times because i couldn't believe the sheer impact of influence america has on england, even though i've been to america more then once i guess this was just a reminder. Appearance is important it's the first physical thing u see. Theres no deny in that, personally i'm not really bothered by the thuggish look, if that person feels comfortable wearing it then FINE, just as long as there wearing it because they want to and not to parade themselves as an fashion statement....
