Hurricane still didnt answer the vital question. Why shag dark skin girls but not marry one of them. Hurricane, how would you feel, if some white man dated your daughter but then said he wouldn't wanna marry her cos she is not white? Remember, for the whites, they don't care whether you're light or dark, you're just BLACK. But I'm sure you'll understand the white man, cos you have the same principles... You'll probably tell your daughter: Well, don't worry honey. I also only married your mum cos she's light skinned cos I only shag dark skin girls but would never marry them.

Hurricane, how can you say the dark vs light issue doesn't exist in Nigeria, if you're truly a Nigerian? Don't you see your aunties with their burnt bleached faces walking down Peckham on a daily basis? Nigerians bleach more than Caribbeans. Go to any Afro shop and see them crowding at the skin bleaching section. Some women even as old as my grandma. I know what I'm talking about, cos I'm half-Nigerian.

is it so you have Brown skinned babies?

Nope, no even looking into that, I care about myself, my children will take care of themselves. I want someone that I am comfortable with, someone that looks like me, so that when I see her, i see myself.
No, that has never affected my decision

Yes there is nothing wrong with that, I like other African women, I am very close to some, but I can only marry a Nigerian. Why, because I think she can understand me more than any other women of any other country. That is the way i feel, Although I have met some that more than convinced me that they are up to the task, but I am slightly skeptical. I am only being honest and open here

Yes I do
If you say so, I agree with you

If you are looking at outside appearence or environmental situations to determine whom you will marry than you are limiting yourself greatly. My boyfriend is Nigerian and his people gave me a very hard time about being an Africa-American woman. They saw that I was am a child of God and have a very big heart. This is what you look at because I promise...just like Lauryn Hill said..."what you want might make you cry, what you need might pass you by..if you don't catch it.... what you need, ironically, will turn to what you want it to be...if you just let it.." You have successfully decieved yourself. It's okay though..to each his own I guess.

I don't care what people say. We have different taste, there is nothing wrong with any skin colour, but sometimes you have a choice. You choose who you want and not let people dictate to you. I am proud to be an African, love my Skin and colour.........but then again I can picture who I want.
Some people like myself don't bother with all this crazy music stuffs, it ain't my bisz.......... but I know what type of girl i want. There are lots of good girls out there and bad ones, I personally prefer and am attracted to Brown Skin girls.............it is my preference, but obviously it has to be a good one. I one my eyes wide and I know what I like, it aint any slave or whatever mentality. It is just a personal choice. So I don't think that there is a light skin mentality a such, people do choose what they prefer and you can't blame them for that.
The issue of light skin vs dark Skin is rubbish, it is those who have too much time on their hand that think about such. Any normal people have will know what they want, it is their choice.

Hurricane...I have to say..I love your spirit...however...the light vs dark thing..IS very real...dark skinned women are only now starting to be celebrated in the media....though they have always been some of the most beautiful women on earth... the light vs. dark thing dates back to slavery days if someone hasn't schooled you on that already. PS. If it makes you feel any better, I am highly attracted to dark skinned men. My father is light skinned, my mother is brown but the only positive male model in my life was my brother who is a dark skinned man. I don't know why but I loooooooooove charcoal black brothers. It seems that dark skinned brothers appreciate me. I am a light brown but I wish I was black as tar though because I LOOOVE Dark skin. I also love foreign men. Go figure, I am engaged to a Nigerian! That has always been my preference. God bless you.

The answer is in the second part of my post that you commented on
"There are lots of good girls out there and bad ones, I personally prefer and am attracted to Brown Skin girls.............it is my preference, but obviously it has to be a good one. I open my eyes wide and I know what I like, it aint any slave or whatever mentality. It is just a personal choice. "
The "Good one" has all these other Qualities, not just the outside appearence. It is true that I am in someways limiting my options, yes it makes it harder,, but you will still find a good brown skin girl who is Godly, nice, beautiful, good personalities etc.

First, let me say I like the way you have put your point across, if everyone debates in this sort of friendly way, there will be no need for bashing, name calling etc. I agree with nearly all of what you have written, but even some places where people haven't really learnt a lot or anythingabout slavery, they still have their preference. It may have happened during the slave trade, but I would doubt if it started then. I agree that there is some dark skin vs light skin, but I think it is been exaggerated. Also it is not a problem in Nigeria anyway, so I don't really care what happens in the Uk neither am I influenced by their media.
PS Why is everyone Engaged to a Nigerian? Maybe we have a lot of good men out there. I am glad that despite all the negative stuffout there, some women still findNigerian men out there attractive. I was readingon a websitecouple of days ago, where someone was asking people for money to help them, the person gave little or no clueof who he is. yet many people on the site came to the conclusion that he is a Nigerian scamer. How did they know he is Nigerian? I am not denying the fact the some Nigerians do engage in all these sort of activities, but not everyone is into all these rubbish. Glad that some people still trust us. God bless you Sisterniceone.gif

Don't intend to live in the Uk with my children, so I don't know what you are talking about. I will take them to Africa where they can learn proper mannas, you get me.Why are you comparing brown skin girls to Whites, you will be blind not to see any difference.

Well I don't live in peckham unfortunately and i don't hang around there. I know some nigerians bleach there faces, but only someone that is daft would find it hard to know the difference between a brown skin fellow and someone that is bleaching.
Nigerians bleach more than Caribbeans . I don't know where you got your stats from, you mean youspeaking for the wholeNigerians base on the number of people you have seen in peckham, and the Caribbeans based of the numbers of caribbeans living in the UK, yes you make little sense.
So because your grandma bleached her skin, that means that every Nigerian does it. That is a silly thing to assume, better if you go to Nigeria and then tell me some facts, you are saying all these rubbish because people who are related to you are bleaching.
Ps Did you have some brandy last night, because i can see the effect on what you have written today, usually it takes 6- 24 hrs to get rid of it, I am sure it is seriously affecting you. maybe next time you talk you will make more sense.

Wherever you live, you will always see Nigerian women who have bleached their skin. Don't go off topic saying you can recognise someone who has bleached from someone who's brown. That's not the point. The point is they BLEACH! Whether in Peckham, Lagos or in your family.

Just look at the Nigerian videos and tell me how many of them stars haven't bleached. So don't be silly and pretend the problem doesn't exist.

By the way, you dont need to tell me about the pharmacokinetics of alcohol cos I'm a pharmacology graduate.

@africanmix22: Why don't you write in a colour that I can see properly. I was tempted to call you names, but I wouldn't do that. But you have given me Enough jokes.
You're the best example that not everyone who grew up in Africa has manners, so I don't think your kids will be fortunate either.
Why??? Can you tell me why you said that

No, I don't see them here. those that live near me are the decent one, who have proper jobs etc they know what they are doing. I have only been to peckham once in my life, but from what I understand there arelots of Nigerians there, there are those who are misinformed there as well, so you will find every dick and harry there, so it doesn't surprise me if you find those with abnormal behaviours there. I can't even live there
You dont have to make things more complicated than they are, please dont overstretch the capacity of your 10 brain cells. Just look around in your community and look at the proportion of Nigerian that bleach compared to Carribeans.
That doesn't prove your point, just as you can't judge the general Nigerian behaviour by the way some Nigerians behave in the Uk. Would you say that because somethings happens a lot in brixton, that it happens a lot in the carribean? No that is rubbish.
Lol, my grandma is already very light, so no need for her to bleach.I think before you bother about my grandma you better tell your auntiesto take it easy with their homemade bleaching potions.I have been to Nigeria several times. Just look at the Nigerian videos and tell me how many of them stars haven't bleached. So don't be silly and pretend the problem doesn't exist.
Why is she looking at the bleaching products then? What does she wants to do with them if she is not using them. Sorry i don't watch the videos, but you can't judge Nigerians' by the videos you watch, how many people are acting in comparism to the population. Just like someone saying everyone in Britain is having a boob job done because they see a lot of british actors doing it. Is that not rubbish? I don't have aunties here, sorry those you referred to are not my aunties. I don't know what you are talking about, they are my compatriots.
Lol, Yeah, I had some nice dinner and brandy with my man last nite, who's Nigerian by the way. What about you? Where you doing your security job to get the double pay? By the way, you dont need to tell me about the pharmacokinetics of alcohol cos I'm a pharmacology graduate.
Listen don't even go there, now your Nigerian mentality is evident here. What gave you the impression that every Nigerian maleworking isdoing asecurity job, that is why I told you living in Peckham may be bad for you. YOu don't see what others are doing, you only see what people around you are doing and unfortunately you are misinformed. Some nigerians thatmake their way here via abnormal means alwaysend up inpeckham. So it doesn't surprise me that you see bad eggs there, what surprised me is your failure to see or search for the good ones somewhere else.
Well done.........pharmacology graduate, if only you were a little more brilliant, you would have studied Medicine. Still a good degree though, I wouldn't tell you what I studied. I have a good job, so Idon't have to work on any bank holidays, i need the rest.
Respect
P.s.I Guess you are a girl, i don't like long debate with girls. They are long, mind you I deal with women. They are More mature and we can talk on the same level. LOL

So I guess we can deduce from that is:
1) only decent people have proper jobs
2) those with proper jobs live near him
3) decent people with proper jobs dont skin bleach.
Is it true. Is there an economic component to the Storm's claims.
