I have these "friends" (they are white) who lately have been going about on racist jokes, but particularly if I am in a class with them they will tell N****r jokes.

Call me whatever, but I find them funny. All races. But does it offend you when people tell racist jokes?

how can you find these jokes to be funny.these white people are laughin at you...thats like when i use to go school(pure white), an the gurls i rolled with were white an they thought it was ok to make nigga jokes cuz they hung round with a black person.they use to say

Exactly, Belle. I don't joke. Here's one... "What do a white person and a dry biscuit have in common... they are both called CRACKERS! Sorry, I know that was dry, LLOL, but I had to. . Jaded, DO NOT encourage them, otherwise you are doing your people a SERIOUS DISSERVICE. These racistwhites could even be thinking "If I were black" I wouldn't take that. Look at this person, they don't even respect their own, or themselves". Trust me, people try one thing to your face and say another behind your back. Like when a guy sleeps with a girl, he'll be moanin and groanin alright and tellin her how good she is... the next day he puts it around the girl is a slut. It's an age old practice ... everyone knows that ...do not put this past anyone. People will encourage you, but when it comes to them taking 'a dare' or 'risk' it's a whole different story. Please jaded, even if you find them funny... DON'T BE ANYBODY'S b**ch! No matter how funny you find them... a day may come when they take it too far and when you want to pull out the RED LIGHT... They'll just turn around and tell you: "You were always laughing, anyway". THEY WILL NOT RESPECT YOU! AND THIS IS WHY THEY CONTINUE TO FURTHER DISRESPECT YOU EVERY TIME THEY SEE YOU! RACIST WHITES ARE NEVER WHAT THEY SEEM! BELIEVE. TRUST. I'd put them in check so fast they'd be afraid to tell me hello next time they see me. I've done it before. I'd make them FEEL IT, the way they are inconsiderate for your feelings and the things that you are sensitive to, I'd do the same to them. I don't care if the room is full of racist whites...I'll say it. Don't ever let anyone give you 'baggage to carry', especially 'racial baggage' . If they do it to me, I do it to them...make them remember me, the way I'm, going to inevitably remember them. Give them a good dressin down. Make them feel the sharp side of my tounge. That's why I don't respect racistwhite people... they lead a life of ignorance...Are you sure they are your friends? You need to get some self-respect (black pride) and some new REAL FRIENDS. Sorry. Just after I qualified I worked for well-known men's retailer. My boss was White - you know the type, 50's, house in Surrey, husband a copper in Streatham......

Anyways, one day the lady boss of the company (the major shareholder) came into our office. Now, this lady was always "sometimeish", so when she ignored me I paid her no mind. However, below is the transcript of the conversation between my boss and this lady:

My Boss: "Are you going away to anywhere nice for your holidays?"

Sometimeish: "Yes, we're going to St Lu-ci-A"

My Boss: "Ok. What airline are you flying with?"

Sometimeish: "A company called BWIA. Never heard of them"

At this point I could have said "Ah BeeWee"(as it's affectionally known in my circle)- but I didn't)

My Boss:" You'd better check them out. You mightnot get lunch-

just a banana

...........................laughter............... ...............

Sometimeish: "Yeah, the pilot will be smoking a joint with a red, gold &

green hat on his head"!

...........................cue more laughter..............................

Now , I sat there seething, but couldn't walk out of the door because Sometimeish was blocking it. When she went I left and called my brothers to ask if I was being precious if I challenged my boss. They both said no, so I challenged her behaviour.

To be fair she realised what she said was wrong amd apologised profusely. However it left a nasty taste in my mouth for years.

About a month ago, I seen a segment on ABC about a young Indian-American Muslim comedian who was making jokes about everybody under the sun, including his own people. I was lisetening to one part that had me thinking about being prosecuted as a minority. He said that we AA people say that we are not being treated by the justice system. he responded by saying that " Hey we ( Muslims) can't even get a trail!" Seemingly many of the people in his community was uneasy with it, but over al they find him to be a funny comedian and I while I think that he's no Chris Tucker! he's pretty funny.

What did I think about his joke? He could have offended some members of the Black community for all I know, but I didn't find what said to be racist.He was just comparing the level of racial/ religious injustice in our communities. To me, just as much as a Black person joke about a White person, a white person should be able to do the same, but there is also a such thing in knowing how to do it. In case with those people,I'm very , very weary of them. To use the"N"and to say N---- jokes?Gee , I thught that N--- didn't mean Black but that it meant being stupid!

I have White friends and friends from other races as well. If I so ever hear one of them making jokes using derogatory words like n---- in their jokes I will tell them where to get of at.I cannot believe you laughing at those jokes! I'm trying to to see how can White person be cool with the ethnic joke by using the N word? I'm just trying to see it and I can't. I just wouldn't feel comfortable with it and you should n't as well.
