should the european union pay reparations for the genocides in africa?

During the great european empire building of centurys after 1400 onwards...more native africans died during the occupations than jews did in the genocides of the 1940's. europe as a whole apologised for the jewish holocaust , even though consentration camps were legal in germany and a form of camp legal in the u.s. for the japanese ( the u.s. said sorry for that too).

Arguments against even an apology for that are "It happened a long time ago"

or that i had nothing to do with it, but the legacy of the colonies still lives with us today. most of the cultures that existed pre the colonies do'nt now. and native afircans are still the underclass were whites inhabit ( south africa, zimbabwe, gambia, namibia etccc. )

if the current queen of england can say sorry for the occupation of the white settlers in australia then she can say sorry to some of her other ex-colonies populace.

Your right, of course. Damage has been done to which many effect still exist. I know people don't want to rack up the past but if you don't deal with the past adequately then you can never move on. The fact that the apology hasn't happened already is I think a reflection on either one of two things or both. The black communities incorrectdetachment and complacency with historic events and or the monarchy's disregard for what we think or feel.
