Man, I'm gettin pissed off. I've been out of work for time and my pockets are feelin' it. It seems like none of my job agencies are making any effort, the Jobcentre want to send me on a training course (e.g. work for no £££) and each week I'm out of work makes my CV looks worse and I can't improve it since I haven't done anything!
Before you say it, I'm not gonna work in MickeyDs (not disrespecting anyone who works there) because I got a Degree not to do that. Sometimes I think it's straight-up racism. It's either they don't want to employ a brother or the competition is just too fierce confused3
Any1 feel me?
When the Police Community Support Officers turned up, Chris sighed and took matters into his own hands...

I know how you feel. I was stuck without a job for over a year after my degree. I was anti work-experience but eventually I knew I didn't have any choice. After 3 months of unpaid I was taken on with a decent full time salary and within 6 months I changed jobs and doubled it. So in the end the 3 months was well worth it.

The first ting u need to do is quit the whoa is me act cos what ur talking is a load of bullshit. Get off ur rass and look for a job urself, don't just rely on jobcentres and agencies to do the work for u. And maybe u need to re-evaluate ur CV cos it could be the very reason why ur not getting any interviews. You know what, if ur serious about looking for a job send me a pm and I will help u

Yo I'm in South London, I just got a new job through an agency believe it or not. There are bare job vacancies around hereso for himtoask that question I knowhe's not applying himself. I'm tired of brothas taking the easy route out and playing the race card like its some kind of excuse why ur unemployed. Do u think black women don't get turned down for positions, cos newsflash we do, and we by no means have it easier. You guys must think all it takes is a short skirt, a pair of stilettos and bright red lipstick to get a job. I went through a hardmentally drainingassessment process that lasted from about 1.30pm-6.15pmto get my new job, plus they made me stew for a week before they confirmed I got it. There were no signs of racism with this company cos out of the six people who went for the assessment three of us were black and we all got the job.

@2deal2
All I can say is do not rely on Job Centre and join some agencies and look on job websites. It might help if you mentioned the type of work your looking for i.e what sector are you interested in. Why don't you sell yourself by sending your cv to companies you are interested in some managers like a person that shows initiative and drive and may call you in for an interview or keep your info on file should a vacancy arise.

Gotta say I agree..good advice...I used to ring the human resources dept of companies weekly myself to see if they had job vacancies...
You cannot rely on Job agencies, I used to find that by the time jobs, reached the local paper or the job centre it had already been filled.. therefore the only jobs left were the really poorly paid shitty ones..
I used to go to the Library and scan ALL their magazines for jobs.. and in this day and age you have the internet...most big companies have websites most with latest job vacancies..
I think the problem is that some people have gotten lazy in the climate of full employment..back in the day when unemployment was high.. you had to walk streets knocking on doors to find job..in my opinion you have to make it your job, to find a job..if your committed you will make your own luck..
