You no when ur young u always have that little phase "When i grow up i want to be a.....", well im still saying that and gonna be 18 next week. Really i should be planning 2 go to uni next yr like most of my friends, but instead im in my first yr of college with people almost 2yrs younger than me. I've been to 3 different places to study 3 different subjects. Personally i feel i've wasted a lot of time in the past. I've just started my new course and bein one of the oldest and best in the class i've been given a placement with the met police. BUT, i'm not sure if this is what i want 2 do, again, i don't like my college and also gettin stick from people i no.
Any advice is welcome. Thanx. XxX.

The key is..you have to do something you love, to have lasting happiness in a career. After a while it stops being about the money, and what people think, but about your personal fulfilment and passion

Sparky, have you seen a careers advisor? They can be really helpful. Not your college one though, but a proper one. I coupleof websites Iwould reccommend are

The careers london one you will have to pay for an appointment, its not more than £25. I know its money, but if they help you choose your career, it will be worth it.

Another website which is good is www.doctorjob.com , which also has some good information on how to go about choosing your career path.

Although these sites and services are orientated towards university students and recent graduates, it will probably help you even more.

I would reccommend that you look on the doctor-job and prospects site first, as they will get you thinking about your strengths, weaknesses, desires and motivations, so if u do pay to see someone, they can help you more, and you will get value for money.

I know its easier said than done, but try not to watch your friends...who knows what will be going on with them in a few years time. You have plenty of time, plus it wll be alot harder for you to get caught up in the college and uni madness that goes on if they are a bunch of yutes to you.
