I just discovered this website and find it a very enjoyable one!
I wanted to ask your views on something that has been bothering me for a while now- The western ideal of beauty.
I watch several programmes on telly here in the UKwhere they actually make fun of women with big bootys- surely they can not be unaware that in the black community it is a thing of beauty?
So I am taking it to mean that they do not recognise that we can have our own standards of beauty. I am so tired of watching programmes where people say' God I hate my bum, its so big! Hello, thats what black people are craving for!
Ive seen movies like 'Date movie' where they made fun of a female character by giving her a very unreal huge booty which she used to knock things off tables etc!
This has led to some sisters beginning to lose confidence in their well endowed bootys- a friend of mine who is shapely recently announced that she had joined Weight Watchers! It made me so sad.
I personally find it insulting that they think that EVERYONE both black and white should aspire to have huge breasts and a flat booty.
That's right. The only girls I've known to complain have been white. One of them has been dating a Jamaican guy for like 5 years, and she's desperate for a bigger ass. Hilarious stuff. The tide is slowly changing. Women are having implants in their butts, breasts and lips in a desperate attempt to look more appealing. Just look at Penelope Cruz. That ass just appeared a few years ago.
White women, eh? Their insecurities are the stuff of entertainment.

Well, to be perfectly honest, it is natural for a western society to hold up western standards of beauty which reflect the body types etc which are natural to them, it is absolutely normal, and we should be taking note. Its communities which hold up beauty standards which are associated with cultures other than their own that should worry us.
I really dont expect western beauty standards to hold up a non western minority (ie African, Asian etc) as the aspiration. I think that would actually be unhealthy for their own indegenous people.
We more than anyone know the pitfall of having the shape, skin, hair which doesn't come naturally to us, imposed or heavily suggested as our ideal.
