Do men recognize another man's beauty? -
01-10-07, 10:07 PM
When they are not gay...?
Once every so often when among a mixed company of friends, a conversation might pop-up about this or that moviestar and/or artist....and some female might exclaim:
-'Damn, he is fine!'
-'Yeah, he has nice eyes, what do you think {insert male name}?'
Answers brusquely: 'I don't know, I aint gay.'
I don't buy this though....if women can recognize each other's beauty without being gay, then men should also be able to do that....
What say you...?

Let me be real with you: There are men that I find as a black male, that are very handsome. Am I gay? Far from it. You just KNOW when someone is better looking than you...you don't have to be gay to sense that.
I could never be as good looking as Boris Kodjoe or Denzel Washington. I know this and I openly admit that they are stunning in their own right.
At the end of the day, I'm still a young black male fantasizing about those girls in my classes and their various...assets.
It just comes down to how comfortable you are as a man to say stuff like that.

Most men seem to be obsessed with each others biceps, six packs, triceps etc

yeah i do, there's nothing wrong with that even had gay dude's looking at me i got no probs with that, only when it gets out of hand is when you start comparing your self to every guy you see saying am i better looking,
is he getting more attention lol?
thats when you need help that, where jealosuy and inecurity kicks in.
personally i couldnt care less if someones better looking than me,
in my teens to ealry twnwties i was what they called one of these sweet boys trying to look better than every other dude, comparing my self, i look back to how pathetic it was cuss i used to get pissed of when all the girls paid attention to me, then a btter looking boy passed by and id get jealous or pissed off, knew a couple of guys who did the same to me too. that female shit men shoudlnt be like that.
lemmi tell you something all these guys overgroomed are insecure. when women pay them no attention, they loose thier self worth. they like women. never rely on looks .

That's a pretty interesting point cause i dont think i know any man who would admit to thinking another man is goodlooking (in fear of seeming gay i guess).
On the other had i had this male friend who suddenly got really big & musclely and i noticed all his male friends who hadnt seen him in a while were like 'whaat you got tonk man, rah i need 2 start pumpin weights' basically complimenting him on his figure (while simultaneously asking him to flex his arm, or even touching it !)
Seems men are more comfortable complimenting each others figures rather than facial attractiveness - maybe thats something to do with being 'macho', as getting a good figure from a mans point of view is about being strong, hard etc etc?

I think it's a jealousy and competitive thing rather than it obviously being sexual.
You know when you see another good looking man. If it's a celebrity, i.e. someone who's far from your everyday reality, then you want to be like him, you want to emulate him so although you may not have the same physical features you'll try to pary him by adopting his dress sense in the hope that women will like you as they do him.
If its a guy who you know or is in your social circle who you know looks good then you'll obviously see him as a threat because he's getting all the attention; making you look small.

Well i'll be honest and to the point i'm a fairly good looking young man, had no friends and two years ago i started grooming more than ever i mean girls didn't use to look my way, now that i look really good i have lots of girls and guys chatting me up and i would say i enjoy it, i get compliments from both about being goodlooking and most i can do is return the favour if i see someone that looks good, my male friends ask me for grooming tips and ask my advice on wearing clothing that looks good, so to answer your question i think every guy would like to look his best because it improves self esteem and confidence.

Do men recognise each others looks? that is a very strange question. mens looks is not such a big deal as with females, so there's no point obsessing over it.
