I have one and it's good for thin slices/chops of meat as well. I haven't thought of putting toasties in it lol. I do burgers and things. So long as the meat isn't too thick it's a great tool. Awkward to clean though and wants doing right away.

on my 3rd forman grill now

they are good while they last but after a while the non stich coating goes...once that goes they just burn everything
they are good for steak chicken fillits and pork chops (yes I eat pork)

as im now on a strict diet now ive been using mines nearly everyday.
normally at this time of year I switch to BBq cooking but with the rain it really isnt an option

Ladyday turky rashers are sold in asda I used to get them all the time from my local strore

Only the best is good enough....

Is it best to do the meat e.g beef or lamb in the oven first for a bit to cook or just do it straight raw?

Depends how thick the cut of meat is sis. If it's so thick you'd need to oven it first, perhaps you shouldn't have it in the GF at all. The GF has different settings for heat and time so you can slow grill things and then turn it up to brown them and so on.
