LMAO Bloody hell, I haven't heard that name in yonks...... conkies. My mum is the expert at making them.... unfortunately I never liked them and couldn't tell you, but I will ask 'Mrs N' and see if she knows. Suppose you'd have to find a real good West Indian produce shop that might stock them.

Try some of the African shops in Brixton market and ask for wrappings for Kenkey.
Otherwise you will have to use silver foil.
Maat:
Conkies is a pudding made from cornmeal and raisins and which is eaten in Guyana. Those in Guyana and Barbados make Coocoo which is a savory variety made with okra and served with fish and which originates from the Ga region of Ghana.
Conkey is the corruption of the Ghananian name Kenkey. I have had Kenkey and don't like it because some varieties is made with sour dough but on the other hand I like CooCoo.

@sargaco: Well isn't that just weird?! My family are Guyanese and for all the cook up cook up they do when putting on a spread, I've never heard of conkies!! I must ask one of my aunties if they know how to turn their hand to these, see how they taste. Thanks for that
