Okay, I read the entire thread and I now know why Incognito and MGL were banned. Like Vezz said, sometime we come here and learn that someone was banned and it takes us by surprise. Maybe a section should be formed kinda like ligali where obnoxious members are placed and rthat way everyone knows the reason for banning them. Just a suggestion, but anyway, Moderators are doing a good job. Check your mail boxes for my check, but you gotta catch it before it bounces.

i can't even remember what the thread was about now, but it will probably come back to me. It's not really relevant anyway.

The poster in question has since been banned (not for that incident) and it was the very misnamed Peacemaker.

He and another poster were basically having a disagreement when he said he hoped she caught cancer and died, or something along those reprehensible lines. I happened to be in personal contact with this poster and knew she was having a difficult time in her life. Peacemakers remarks were unnecessary, unwarrented and were aimed at a poster who is not even confrontational or combative, so it is not as if his remarlks were justified in anyway.

I sent you a PM about it asking that he be warned. As i am not the type to be up in others business if it does not concern me, it took alot for me to stand up and send that PM. Others complained about his comments within the thread. However, nothing was done at all. We were basically told that the person his comments were aimed at should be able to defend themselves. Althugh i didn't say so, i did not find that response acceptable. For what was said and for who it was said to, i felt that somethig should have been done. Since i felt that my PM had been ignored, i saw no point in sending another one.

Truth be told, it pissed me off. As time went on, i continud to visit on occasion and read some threads, but i ceased contributing. In this time i noticed Incognito becoming increasingly insulting in his comments towards women, which to me, seemed to be allowed where similar comments IF made by a woman about men wouldn't have been.

I also noticed that alot of female contributors had stopped posting. As i joined their ranks, i could not blame them, although at that time i did not know that they had already stated they would leave.

Sometimes BN just seemed damn hostile towards women in general.

I have to say that the banning of certain posters is a step in the right direction. I just hope it is not a question of too little too late.

So i am sorry Kunufu, but i had to take issue with you stating that you can;t do aything about a problem/poster if no one informs you. Becasue more than one person said PMs comments were nasty and nothing was done.

I would dearly love to know what it was that Peace Maker eventually did that caused him to be banned. Since i am sure some members are already aware, it can't be a secret, so please do share! He really was very unpleasant, and i am being polite and putting it VERY mildly!!.

VK but sometimes you have to clean house in order to create a climate where other people want to or can post.

There's a roll call of peeps who don't post here anymore or not as frequently,I could hazard a guess that some of the reason is the climate is off-putting.

Peacemaker drew lines like a demented plastic surgeon and critiqued her physique on a photo of Afriki,which not only over-stepped the mark,it high jumped over it............some other shyte ensued and then he was banned.

VK, i honestly don't see how you cannot see how and why Incognito was banned. he has clearly made many posts that were disrespectful towards women. Maybe as a man your eyes glided over those, but trust me, the women didn't!! If people aren't banned, either temporarily or permanantly, then BN will hemorage members anyway through them leaving, as has already happened.

Also, i disagree with Mods being too quick to ban. If anything, IMO they are too slow. Incognito was cut alot of slack and apparently given many warnings. It cmes to something when people threaten to leave and act on that threat. And he is just one example. Not really fair to keep referring to him, but it was his banning that prompted this topic.

However, i agree with your point about lesser transgressers being excluded for maybe a month then being allowed back. But if they continue to trangress, they cannot be suprised if their exclusion becomes permanant.

I agree with VK suggestin about aving a section for them, Like Ligali. They can also be held up as an example of what is not acceptable.

MB...Actually i recall the thread in question I think on that occassion I may have either closed the thread or put out an advisory.. but obviously given the extra bits you have now added to the story..and the context of the behaviour of others... I can see that it wasn't really enough.. and obviously my decision on that occassion should have been to immediately exclude...

I naturally give long term members a bit more leeway..because of the impact i know excluding them has on other people.. and it is a difficult judgement to make because if we jump in I get accused of being a dictator.. if i hold back I am then accused of colluding...

In this case however I did get it wrong...and obviously I unwittingly did colluded with the sexist climate that prevailed and for that i have to take FULL responsiblity..and apologise to you personally...

Peacemaker was excluded after I came across a thread where had taken the picture of Afriki and made very personal and sexist remarks about her size, her body and her in general.... For that he was permenmantly excluded...I felt THAT outragous behaviour could not be tolerated..

I'm not one for making excuses so I won't make any for letting you down personally...I hope that explains what happened!!

Wasn't just Incognito criticizing the baby mothers though. I see alot of inconsistencies. Maybe he was the loudest, but he sure wasn't alone. There were other males AND females involved. I figure we all descend from a baby mother somewhere, so no one should be so judgemental. I also saw inconsistencies in the Erykah Badu thread as well as the superhead thread. People may not see it that way, but when you criticize person A, you could also be insulting person B who you feel is your friend.
