That woman she is damaging her poor kids and it should not be allowed to continue. Those boys are going to grow up with real issues.
Those women on the stage have issues and would do well to go and seek some counselling or spiritual guidance.
This show is like the Jerry Springer show or the Jeremy Kyle show they take the extremes out there and put them on the stage but the majority of people won't go to those extremes and many of us do love our skin colour.
Do some of you think that this is not such an issue in the UK among Black Brits? Colorism may exist in the UK but i don’t know of any Black Brits who bleach their skin. When i say Black Brits i am referring to black people that were born (or at least came to the UK at a very young age i.e young kids) and raised in the UK.
It is sad when i was in Nigeria i said to this little girl that she was a beautiful black girl as she was being funny about some stuff and she told me that G_d forbid that she was a yellow girl. To some families this whole issue is important.
The media does present lighter skinned black women as more of a beauty ideal than darker skinned black women. There are some darker skinned black women out there though. You need to be secure in yourself though and if you are not you will run into problems.
This is not even about light skin v dark skin but it is about getting people to appreciate whatever shade they are.

They should have their children taken away. That is child abuse.

I think I truly benefited from spending my earlier years in LA, the heart of (to me anyways) I am black and I am proud movements. I have one friend who believe skin colour determines what colour clothes people can wear. I just do not get it. Bleaching is a crime and like what Tyra said in that clip a problem created by the society we live in
Happy that one girl stopped after choosing to live by her own standards and not that of other folk
Also glad Tyra highlighted the fact that it is more rife in Asia and other countries and not just a problem in the black community

I'm glad i did'nt watch that show and those stupid women with their issues, i'd have probaby put my foot into the tv screen if i did watch ,it besides i don't like Tyra Banks,It just pisses me off that still in this milenium there are still black folks with the same old stupid self esteem issues about their skin tone ,black women who bleach their own childrens skin are abusing their kids and should have their kids removed from their so called care.I don't blame society for this at all not now ,not in this decade ,theres just too much information out there for some black folks to be so ****ed up in the head ,what happened to all that i'm black and i'm proud stance that was prevalent back in the 60,s and 70,s what black folks have amnesia or something ?all the work that brotha malcolm did back in the day and all the other great black leaders was it all for nothing? Some black folks need to quit being so ****ing dumb.

Took the words right from my mouth bro, pathetic as well as very sad, except the Tara bit of course- cos you know shes looking fit in that video..... .
The woman who bleaches her kids was bleached by her mother, so she has real deep issues which would need proffessional counseling to change.....quite sad.

I know. Dark people or even light people who are insulted like that need to ignore it and stop listening to what people say about them.

started watching, and I am truly saddened seeing how beaten so many of our sisters have become with those weaves barely hanging on their heads talking about she had a child with an Asian man to ensure it wouldn't be dark-skinned, bleaching young boys, and other truly disheartening things. How ironic it is as I used to have a complex of wanting to be darker in complexion, and wanted a woman who was darker to make sure my children were darker, but I have grown out of that phase.
I do plan on finishing the video, but I want to watch it with the wife and discuss. Again, I have to say just the start of it has me truly saddened.

I wonder what the Asian guy feels about this woman doing this to him for the sake of her child's looks and not out of love. I find it odd since the majority of Asian men are simply not interested in black women anyway.

i thought i watching a comedy cartoon sketch with people acting out a scene from the 1930's. but then i saw Tyra's face that's when i put i foot into the screen. i don't understand why black women in this age (2008) feel inferior to white women. doesn't make logical sense in a age of mass information.
