Are Black People more racist than White People

There are two things wrong with the question "are black people more racist than white people.

1. Racism is finite. Either you are, or you aren't- and not to a greater or lesser degree.

2. 'Are black people/white people..' suggestsunified nameless mass of same skin individuals who all have the same opinion. Realisticly, your question can only address a cross section of oneor the other (you should rephrase/rethink the question)

I'll humor the question for what it is anyway... at least the parts that make sense-

I think what you were trying to ask was "do black racists have stronger opinions than white racists", right?

IMHO- white racists still have the beefier mean streak.

The majority ofblack racism I've seen tends to be either: non-lethal aggression (excluding that one truck driver in LA), exclusion from accepted aquaintences (IE-lack of friendship; denial of job for other raceapplicant), or basic rudeness (example:'don't order from the chinese place because they are really serving cat')

White racistsembody all of the above in addition to lethal aggression. In comparison to the forementioned truck driver (who is still alive), there are stillnutty skin-fetish typesgunning people down, and dragging peoplebehind pickup trucks to their deaths.still around is thechurch of the creator, Klu klux clan, andneo nazi types... of course, then again, there extremists are complete xenophobes to begin with.

I have seen racism from both sides of the fence.I;m mixed race female and was adopted by white people.When I started dating I wanted to go out with Black men.I have known Black men who wouldn;t set foot in my family home due to my parents "whiteness" yet my parents are So not racist.I have had racist remarks from Black men and women due to the shade of my skin(light brown) I no longer know what to think! Black people can be So hyocritical.I;ve always thought of myself as a Black woman but if I;ve said it in the company of Black people I;ve been told I;m too light to refer to myself as Black.White people have said I;m not black I;m "Lovely!" So many mixed messages so much confusion! Its not suprising the world is in such a mess.From now on I describe myself as a brown woman and maybe that way I wont upset Black or White people!

On the issue of racism I think there is a big difference in being personally affected by insensitive and at time stupid comments and having your life chances significantly reduced because of someones elses perception of you...the difference between racial prejuice and racism the two are NOT the same thing..

On the issue of confusion, I felt really sad reading your thoughts, you should NOT feel that you have to please anyone but YOURSELF... What you feel your culture is, is what it is. It is NOT upto Africans or European to define you and you should NOT allow yourself to be dictated to in this way...

Speaking from an African perspective, our culture is inclusive not exclusive and those ignorant Arseholes who told you that you were too light..are so stupid its untrue.. This is why some people myself included do not get hung up defining ourselves solely by skin colour..(those days are dun,) it is about culture and where you look to for you ideals, morals, history and direction put simply the notion of trying to attain this from a colour is a nonsense...

Anyway to conclude..there is no confusion you're the product of a mixed heritage, rejoice in that fact, there is NO NEED to choose..you can't and it is a nonsense and a contradiction to even try.. The fact remains that whether you live like a European or as an African you will still in the end be seen as 'black' not brown, not beige and not mixed..which is a euphamism for a black person with one white parent..in the end be happy being you..be comfortable being you...if others don't like it then in my view that is their problem you should not, must not make it yours..

Locsgirl: I'm glad those word were of some use, however I did also had an alterial motive, which is this...those words were thought up and written by a Black man.... Me!! My point is this, whilst I would never claim to have an angel all my life i'm clearly not a git..and whats more i'm not the exception in this regard. I think I am the norm... where I live I can look at and point to at least 4-5 black families getting by..also the people i choose to know would never come off the stupid voicing the silly remarked you experienced.

So my point is simply this, whilst its naturally your progative whom you choose to date, is it possible that you may have been wrong to assume that blackmen/women in generalhave certain endemic traits.. could it be that with all things that in orderto gain the quality we all strive for we naturally, wehave to struggle for it, and in that struggle we often have to learn hard and without doubt painful lesson before we get the good things in life..just a thought

Ah yes that was a sneaky one wasn;t it? Ok point taken.Maybe then its fair to say that maybe I just wont date Anyone for some time and put the whole issue in the lap of the Gods.Of course I know good black men, my son is one and so is my best friends partner.I agree that we often have to strive to get what we want so maybe one day I;ll be lucky!
