Describe it!!! Do you love it or hate it, do you celebrate it? if not why not, if so why? What's it really all about?
Life is good really, it's just how you view it.

Hey Menzer,
well, Christmas in my neck of the woods is usually all about family, as is thanksgiving. I usually love christmas......and it used to be one of my favorite holidays. I love to have an excuse to buy presents for people I care about....but this year Im not particularly as excited about it. for one, I would have loved to celebrate it snuggling by the fireplace with my man......only I don't have one. so this year, it sucks.....however, the real meaning of Christmas is suppose to be about the birth of Jesus Christ.......for christians, such as myself, it's the most important day of the year..........peace...................!

* I could go on all day about this very topic, but in a nutshell: I don't celebrate Christmas for the simple reason that it is not now-- nor has it EVER been --a ''Christian'' holiday or a holiday pertaining to ANYTHING about Christ! It's origins are DEEPLY rooted in paganism, and uses many of the symbolic props & practices of the pagan festivals from which it originates.
* The earliest attempts to ''Christianize'' this ''holiday'' occured when the attempt was made to gain more converts to the ''Church'' by renaming the originally celebrated harvest festival of the ''Saturnalia'' (which honored the Roman god ''Saturn'') and the contemporary celebration of the ''mithraic rites'' (which celebrated the ''rebirth'' of ''Mithras,'' a ''Sun-god'') as ''Christ's Mass.'' (In fact, a very similar thing was done with ''EASTER,'' which I likewise do not celebrate.) This action was taken in order to make it easier for the ''heathen'' to accept Christ; thoroughly ignoring the biblical admonition to keep holy things separate from unholy, as best summed up at 2 Corinthians 6:14-17. (It is also curious to note that the invented African-American holiday ''Kwanzaa,'' which I also do not honor, is VERY SIMILAR to the ''Saturnalia'' festival in many ways.) Many more of the practices and symbology stem from later ''Druid'' influences.
* It should also be of interesting note that the earliest Christian Church DID NOT celebrate the ''BIRTH'' of the Christ (as they tended to view ALL annual celebrations of a person's date of birth as something associated with paganism); rather, they celebrated the ''DEATH'' of the Christ -- when he REDEEMED mankind by paying the penalty for our sins... in fact, this Memorial is the ONLY celebration commissioned by Christ personally for his adherents to observe (1 Corinthians 11:23-26).
* Other conflicts with the biblical account present themselves in the imagry of the ''Christian'' portions of the celebration, for example: Jesus was a toddler of about two-years in age or older when he was ''discovered'' by the magi (of which only three types of ''gifts'' were mentioned, NOT the number of men presenting them), among other much more theologically significant insights regarding the whole so-called ''Nativity'' recreation.
* It gets much too deep for this format, but that's the gist of it.
* So keep in mind, the NEXT time you hear someone complaining that ''Christ'' has been ''X-ed out'' and that he needs to be ''put back'' in ''Xmas,'' you can appreciate the fact that ''Christ'' was NEVER in ''Christmas'' to begin with, and that the holiday really DOES have more to do with the ''God of Materialism,'' a.k.a. ''Santa Claus,'' than it does with Jesus.

I agree with this account christmas has nothing to do with christ or christianity and has its roots firmly based in paganism. Did,nt paganismevolvefrom satanismand devil worship ?

Christmas does have its benefits. it is the time when Jesus' name(and story of)is mentioned the most. plus if you ignore all the non-religious of christmas traditions you actually have a good celebration. i would rather celebrate christmas than worship water gods etc
yes i do celebrate christams it for me is about the birth and life of christ and it also brings family together. i will be spending christmas with family. unfortunatley i cant celebrate christmas with my mum as she is resting in peace. so for me it will be a time ofhappiness and sadness.
Think outside of the box...Think in spirit
Act as if it were impossible to fail!!!
