I am nearly agood guitarist, I know that because people told me. Anyway, I play the electro Acoustic or the Rhythm Guitar. I know how to play this very well, not really looking for tips on that but I don't mind if I get one. Now I want to play the Bass or the Electric guitar. I know that playing the bass is different style altogether, but i think it is easier. But I would really like to move on to the electric as this is cool especially when those players do the solo.
So is it difficult to adjust to lead or electric playing??? Bearing in mind that I play some blue or lead stuffon the acoustic guitar. I know how to bend, play the pull off, hammer on etc. But I will be playing it on the proper electric guitar soon, I need some help.
Peace
If anyone out there plays the Keyboard or piano, holla please. I have problems playing chords and making it sound nice, I can do hear play, but when it come to chords, I know the chords, but I can't make itsound nice as I usemy left hand to play the root note only and use the right hand for the chord, but I have no beats and the allpergio stuff I can't do it and keep in time.
Please don't tell me to take some lessons, I am already doing one. But it is not a private onecause the private ones are too expensive.

There is a CD-Rom that you may like to purchase from the GSP group - www.gsp.cc. Its suppose to be for beginners and the more experienced alike, (Interemediates).
I'm not sure if it would be ofany help to you - to be quite honestI have had a bit of a fuss with it, but you might get along better.

Hi athaba, I have checked the site and I read about that cd rom, I don't think it will help me either, cause I have tried something like that in the past when i was actually a beginner. The problem with the cds or books is this, if you are not holding something properly or you are not getting the strumming pattern etc, no one will show you.
I guess I have to search the web for some online stuffs, I have done this in the past. Actually, I know that people can't really help hereonline on how to improve, what I want to know is how easy or how difficult it is for a Rhythm Guitarist toeffect to a leadguitarist.

Why nottry a music shop and ask the shopkeeper for any tips. It depends on how friendly they are, but I sometimes go to mine when I am stuck for information.

I will wait till wednesday and ask my guitar tutor. Just wanted to get some feedback from some black folks who have played it or those who are still playing.
A guyplays the lead guitarhear in my church, the guy is good, but he plays what is in the book or put it the way, the style of play is too English. But I rememeberedthe way it is being playedin Africa, they play to my taste..........not saying they are better than the guys over here, but the guys here don't playthat sort of tune that I want to hear. I don't know whether you get what I mean

@ locsgirl
LOL! I hear ya locsy...What is it about a guitar player?Their appeal is just...(hold on let me compose myself, hee!, hee!, hee!) I guess that's why Prince still does it for me to this day..
Hey Saint did you catch the Rock and Roll Hall of fame Induction ceremony...the brother threw down. His part in the all-star jam near the end of the show was just sensational. Hewas strokinghis guitar so effortlessly, it just seemed as natural as breathing after all these years.
I wish you luck with your switch from acoustic to bass.blkthumbsup

Let me say I am not a rock fan, so I don't even know who slash is, i just check on the internet and I saw him with his guitar. Needless to say, I can't play when he is playing cause he will just be in a different league altogther. It is not like comparing Boston United to Man United, but like comparing a Vaxhaull Motors toMan United.
* Vaxhaull motors are not even in the conference

As I stated above, i am not a rock fan, wasn't aware that such event was going on. Whenever I doing some lessons, some folks bring some song and they always assume that everybody should know the song, but I don't know many of the songs indeed.
Indeed you would be surprised to know that I never heard of Tupac or Biggie until after their deaths. Wasn't interested in most of these music until 5 years ago.
I am not switching from acoustic to bass, it is the electric guitar( lead guitar)that i am switching to. Thanks for your comments though, much appreciated.

My bad and you are welcome. As for the ceremony, it is held each year and acts from all generes of music are chosen...this year Prince was one of the inductees.

hey saint I can help abit with the piano - thats my baby! clp)
the arpeggios, broken chords etc....it's just a question of practise...practise....practise! the rhythmm will come with time. How long have u been playing?
you wrote: I usemy left hand to play the root note only and use the right hand for the chord, but I have no beats and the allpergio stuff I can't do it and keep in time
I dont really get what u are doing. If anything the right hand is for the melody and the left for the base chords. maybe, I dont get what u are asking. what do u mean by no beats?
you cantry using a metronome - that should help u with the beat/keeping pace. It can be a bit distracting at first but u will get used to it
