Now, for a long time, I said I wouldnt buywest-indian take aways because I can cook the food myself (sometimes better than them! ) I've never seen a Chinese person buy a Chinese take-away (maybe I'm wrong) or an Indian person buying an Indian take-away:P
N E Ways, recently, I've been boughta take-away from a West Indian shop and to tell you the truth, it wasnt that badclp). The only reason I bought it was because I couldnt be bothered to cook that night. Some of the shops though do not look that inviting that's also another reason that I was put off from buying from them.
Do you buy from West Indian take-aways and if so, is/was the food any good?

i buy these takeaways, because i'm Nigerian, and i have no idea how to make the food properly. I enjoy it, but i only go where people have already got the food, so i know it will be nice.

[suP]BB - That is soo true, when i go china town, i only ever eat in restuarants with chinese people! I don't like Indian, but if i did, i would only ever eat at restuarants with Indian people! Because if it is good enough for them, then it is for me! [/suP]

Softtothe touch; The problem for me is not the standard of the cooking but rather the standard of the service...unfortunately I have sadly say that this is lacking in too many resturants of West Indian origin...especially those that specialise in Jamaican take out..
The either don't have the food ready at the right time ie lunchtime..or worse they treat you like they are doing you the favour by serving you...but what ready gets my goat is that some of them have no flippin manners and talk to people anyhow.. I know that there is one place in the Elephant N Castle I point blank refuse to use again because they don't how to speak to people...

oh so you do have west indian food house which is still a takeaway that people are aware of. think the woman that owns s&a foods used to make curries from her kitchen now she has a factory and sells to supermarkets. the progression will happen someday for someone. we have about two or three west indian diners and take-aways plus 2 food houses and the man that sells home made jesrk chicken yummy

Yes because they are tasty and a much healthier alternative to MickyD's.
Also I know many people say that "oh but I eat it athome and la la la" but the point for me is if Im gonna eat out (and I am) then it had better be good food.
We always mumble about supporting black businesses and building stuff up? Well? Come on then!
The one outside my Uni is very cheap too!

Has anyone seen the new restaurant that's going to open in Stratford opposite the Showcase Cinema ? It looks as if it will be quite big. There areboards up with telephone numbersand a website address. I've never managed to remember what they are. Has anyone else ?
Also, there's another new one opening up on Leyton High Road.
It looks like a trend to me.
There are a lot of African and Afro-Caribbean restaurants around but you don't seem to notice them at the first instance.
It's all good.
