@Respect
My mind really should be on other things right now, but just a couple of thoughts in response:
My problem with to manyblack people in this country is that most do not have the wit or sense to take advantage of oportunities on their doorsteps. Whatto manyseem adapt at doing is slagging down the Brits -but when they find themselves in a position to help other blacks, an oportunity privileged to them by whites, they close the door firmly on other Blacks.
I can't say I don't recognise what you're saying, but 'most'? Think there's a bit more to it that, and I wouldn't underestimate the extent of the real barriers that still exist. I would agree that some of us can do more than we think we can - there is a lot of what I would call 'protective hesitation'.
Look at howeven the dirt poor sections of the Asian community are steadily climbing the ladder of opportunities
Again, depends on who you're talking about. Indians, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, and Ugandan Asians have very different socio-economic profiles; Pakistanis and Bangladeshis, in particular, might even fare less favourably on the whole than Africans/Caribbeans. There is a bit of mythology around the 'prosperous Asian community' stereotype.
But what doWE oftendo?
Some do some or all the things you suggest - in my experience, not the majority. I think your conclusions are over-generalised and inaccurate- if you operate from those assumptions, you willadd to the problem rather than contribute to the solutions. Talking about..
who are the REAL dummies?
..kinda makes my point.
Maybe more later.
Mind your wants, 'cos somebody wants your mind

Stop it MBD and Nando!!! You lot are killing me!!!!
Now thats not very nice is it!!!!! lol
I know the smell you mean Nando, not all of them have it but i have smelt it before. It is sort of spitty / piggy / cheesy kinda smell!!
You either get the types that smell like that, or like shampoo.
But you lot forgot to touch on the indisputable:
Washing their baby / underwear in the kitchen sink but bathing the dog in the bath!!!!!
Emptying bucket water that you just mopped the floor with into the kitchen sink.
Fernando, you forgot Ben Sherman / Polo shirts!!!!
Peace~

@Black Beauty,
In answer to your profound question.
When I think of Culture over here, I look at it in terms of the different Countries that make up the United Kingdom.
Indeed it might be more benefical all round if we were to look at our identity (Our being All Communities) from the aspect of "The United Kingdom" rather than simply British.
When I have lived overseas is when I notice either in Constrast or in my Character those aspects that are associated or missed in British Culture. Although I rather speak in terms of English Culture which is where I was born and raised. So here is my brief list of English Culture:
- The F.A Cup
- The Oxford & Cambridge Boat Race
- The Village Church
- The Pub
- The Licencing Laws :P
- Shakespeare
- The BBC ( rapidly changing)
- The Royal Family
- The Police ( ever Americanized nowadays)
- Pimms
- Barbour Jackets
- London
- The Shires
- The Rain
- The Wind
- The various accents
- The Music Scene and it's wider impact on the World
- The Tate (Both)
- The British Museum ( The Empires reciept of Stolen Goods)
- Cricket
- Rugby
- Public Schools
- Dickens
- Ealing Comedies
- Piped History of World War II
- Churchill
- The City
- Sense of Humour
- A Measurement system that won't die quietly
- Fashion coming from below rather than up above
- Parliamentary Democracy
- Left Hand side of the Road - Driving
- East Enders
- Overall Politeness
- "Saturday nights alright for Fighting Attitude in the smaller towns"
- 1966 ( Better known than 1066)
- A Sense of Fair Play
- The Rule of Law
- Tolerant Society
- The Class System
- The N.H.S
- The lasting Myths that sustained the justification of Empire
- The Freedom to disagree in total with all of the above without fear of prosecution.

Thanks dada. That class thing between blacks should be explored further methinks. There are lower class blacks like Athaba, Fernando etc..lower in education, manners, perhaps income and so forth who have little to contribute to this thread that is constructive, and whom we should separate ourselves from socially, while at the same time acknowleding that they are part of the black family, and we do what we can to help them.
Class is a useful function. Not all black people are equal, or are meant to be. We must have our cleaners and our Mac waiters.

Any TRUE intelligent person would know that true CLASS is not based upon someones education / income.

I tell you what, you live your life being 'grateful' for the opportunities the white man is giving you by helping you be so much 'better' than the people back home, and we'll live ours knowing the truth, because as well as needing our black cleaners / Mac waiters, we also need our ever present Uncle Toms, so thanks for filling the position!!!!
