any sociologist will tell you that culture is aset ofpractices which identifies the behaviour andexpresses the feelings orviews of a particular group community or society. Religion is one aspect of culture.The Church of Englandis thereforean aspect of British culture...it was invented on these shores.Food is another, so fish and chips, yorkshire pudding, haggis, cider etc can be described asfeatures of the culture. Westminster style democracy (the name is a dead giveaway) is another feature. Intellectual traditions and stories are important aspects of a culture and in this you can see how much of theEnglish literature we know reflect and have arisen from that culture. I may go so far as to say that Britain has a rich culture, although much of it has been overshadowed by the criminalities of slavery and colonialism, immigration, the development of multiculturalism andthe rise of devolution at home.
Further 90pc of the sport we are aware of cricket, football, golf, badminton, rugby, rowing etc are British.
Hope that is something to go by.

@Black beauty
How can you ask such a question when we have the the Royal family at the heart of our wonderful British culture something thatmakes me grateful and proud.
Brittannia rules the waves and the British culture issteeped in history that tells of its magnificance.I for one, stand up tall and proud and sing in perfect harmony our national anthem
'GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!!!!!!'

Respect:I was having a bit of laugh, butyou can't deny thatthat is their culture though, especially for the ordinary person today in everday life!
To be serious for a bit longer though,quite a lot of what you said had originated elsewhere - democracy for example - they justadapted them to suit theBritish style.

I think its a bit unfair of us to sneer at British culture. It is true that much of what we share with white Brits had been shoved on us, but you cant deny that we have benefited greatly by being exposed to much of that culture - as they toohave benefited from ours. The way of life we enjoy on this island, the access to or proximity to oportunities, is superior to thatmost of us might enjoy in the Caribbean or in Africa.
Of course, there are aspects of British culture..the subltle, underneathracism that makes it a challenging experience to livehere, but by and large they are learning from us to fight their racist demons and live in peace with their darker skinned fellow citizens andneighbours.
Now we wont be helping the cause if we started to insult their culture in their own ancestral land would it?
Get a grip black people.Show a liitle respect and consideration.

Words like 'sneering' and 'insult' are a bit strong, respect, - i don't think anyoneare doing that.
But as for your last remark what r u talking about???! We must respect them???!
I shall put this nicely - the day they respect us, is the day we will respect them, ok?

@Respect
It is hard to be appreciative of a culture that firstly, has been thrusted upon us and secondly wecan never really be a part of. The mere sight of the union jack make me well up with rage. confused2
I would be happy for you to tell us exactly what you think wehave benifited from this culture, to my mind whatever it is, when you you weighit against what we have lost, the loss is far greater. The way of life we may enjoy here may be far superior to that of Africa and the Carribbean, but you are talking about material wealth, what about the quality of life? The Brits are not learning from their 'darker skinned neighbours' they are only tolerating us,A black person dosn't really have a voice this society, even the guys at the top who are seemingly doing well, they are there just as long as they are dancing to 'Rule Brittainia' if we cannot express our views in this forum, then where can we?
Athaba is right when they show respect for me and mine I will show respect to them. niceone.gif
