I know lots of other races do it to, and all levels of society do it. But why do so many black men smoke weed and furthermore why do so many actually believe its benificial?
Some will say its no worse than alcohol but surley that doesn't make it good? If 1 legal poison is bad why take another illegal 1?
Why must we cloud our minds with chemicals to'focus'? I don't understand

I am a weed smoker and i must say i find that not a lot of black men actually smoke anymore (been there, done that), or those that do may have a bit now and then. I am not finding it commonplace to always see young black men high, and those i personally come in contact with are non-smokers.
Weed can be beneficial depending on how and why you consume, selling it is only illegal because the government cant monopolise it, not because it is a danger.
It effect individuals in different ways, personally if i needed to focus, smoking would be the last thing i would do.

Actually it is known to have some medicinal properties. My mum is chronically ill and she swears by it. It helps her to manage the pain.

i believe the statment is misleading. my husband is from Jamaica and he does not smoke anything at all. in fact not many of his family do. peiople would have assumed that he would because of where he is from
its all down to individuals.

I agree with you LadyDay. When I was at uni and they had smoking sessions and I declined as I have never smoked it before and had no intentions of starting. They were shocked.

I thinkin some homes parents smoke so freely in front of their kids that the kids get the impression that it is OK and harmless, apparently if akid grows up i house where the parent smoke cigarettes the chances of them smoking as adults are increased.
weed seems to be the new cigarette, I can't count the amount of times I have passed school kids huddled in corners, rolling up (btw these kids are black and white)
I personally don't smoke weed, but from what I have readsome great works of art have been created whilst the artists were under its influence. (?)

@ Camille
I disagree a little bit with what you said because i find the kids of weed smokers normally dont smoke.
Many weed smokers did not grow up in a house where their parents smoked (me being one), but as we we did not grow up in it, when you reach a certain age you start experimenting.
Peace~
