Now, I dont know about you, but I have heard about guys that act all "thug" like etc and them "ah bad man ah town" but are secretly on the Down Low "DL". These guys act like they only like women but behind closed doors they are secretly having sex with men (sometimes with/without protection) and then going back to their women and sleeping with them .. the women being oblivious to their lifestyle.

I know of one woman that was married to a Jamaican guyand during their marriage (they are now divorced) he was spotted in gay clubs (rubbing up with a next man ) by friends of this woman (even though they didnt tell her until he and she had finished). He had a male friend that was obviously gay but she had no idea that her husband was bisexual, even though the signs were there. When they slept together he always wore condoms even though she thought this was a bit strange (he said it was because he wasn'tready for kids!!!).

Now people, this isn't an isolated case, there are guys out there that are doing this on a regular and their partners have NO IDEA that their men are sleeping with other men and could be putting their lives at risk.

Any thoughts on this?

They are usually lucky because the people they know dont normally frequent gay clubs, so there is normally no chance of them getting catch in one!!

April 6, 2004 -- Just a few weeks ago, Star Jones, co-host of “The View,� and her fiancée, Al Reynolds, rejected reports that their whirlwind relationship and engagement was in trouble because of rumors about Reynolds’ sexual preference.

Word that he had once shared a summer house in a gay section of Fire Island and attended an all-male Halloween party in his Speedos, ignited talk that Reynolds was on the “down-low� -- a man who doesn’t call himself gay or bisexual, but has sex with men, often behind the back of his wife or girlfriend. Jones and Reynolds dismissed the reports, saying they discussed their “personal histories� and, basically, that it was nobody’s damn business.

Men on the “down-low� is nothing new. In the 1990s, E. Lynn Harris’ popular books about bisexual African American men who lead double lives hit the stores. Today, the musical adaptation of Harris’ best-selling story of the same name, “Not A Day Goes By,� continues to spotlight this controversy in the African American community, which is far more than an issue of whether Black men are deceiving Black women.

The issue of bisexual men and the potential for spreading deadly disease, including H.I.V./AIDS, is a major fear, especially considering the studies showing that African American women are more likely to contract AIDS via heterosexual sex.

Government studies of 29 states show that an African American woman is 23 times more likely to be infected with AIDS than a White woman. In addition, Black women accounted for 71.8 percent of new H.I.V. cases in women from 1999 through 2002. While the recent number of infections has stabilized, the incidence of picking up the disease through heterosexual sex has increased.

Other studies suggest that some 30 percent of all African American bisexual males may have the H.I.V infection – and 90 percent of that number do not know they are infected.

In 2002, African Americans – who comprise about 13 percent of the national population – accounted for 42 percent of those having AIDS, and more than half of those diagnosed with new infections.

Researchers believe that the high incidence of Blacks having sex with Blacks only keeps the disease within an African American “sexual network.�

Within this “network,� Black women outnumber Black men -- the 2002 census data show there are 12.6 women 21 or older, compared with 9.9 million Black men.

And on the heels of the Star Jones story, marriage rates in the African American community are dropping, which means folks are having more than one partner at the same time.

I was watching Ricky Lake today and they were chatting about striaght men having gay sex even when they are with a female partner - andNONE of their partner's was aware of this. The men were confessing that while they were in jail, they actually had sex with a few inmates- and even out of jail, they continue to live this lifestyle out of the house and still claim that they are straight; they say thy do this "cos they aint getting enough at home". Many of the men doing this don't see the need to use contraception as there partner they are "doing it" with stands no chance of being pregnant (they are male), however in all cases, what they seem to forget is the spread of sexual dieseases, which will then be passed on to their female lover.

Now it is a fact that Gay sex is very dangerous because there is a high chance of s.t.ds being caught, aids is the primary result of this. Aids was first detected in the homosexual society, which then spread into the hetero community due to the lack of contraception being used.

The only excuse they men who confessed this gave was; the "needed it" and "being in jail for up to five years without it was bound to drive them mental".

The most scary thing about this is the fact that many men do this, maybe not yet but when the time comes they may consider it. Now when i first heard this- i refused to believe it- my main question was "why would striaght men even think of having gay sex- unless they were really gay, this should be the last thing on their minds", but then again being ignorant about this won't solve anything, it'll just make the mtter worse.

Overall i think this is wrong, not the homosexual aspect of it, but the fact that in the whole thing the mendon't even think about using contrception and then end up passing an s.t.d to their lover who ends up dying over the man's foolishness!!!

Man o Man!!!! I'm confused and worried about the state of certain things going on in the states right now!

The Gay issue has longbeen thrown at usfrom every new programme on
television, with the token "Gay" guy (as opposed to the token "Black" guy)
and his feminine antics being pushed forward.

I'm not homophobic, cos people have been mentally and emotionally twisted since beforewe were allborn. I also like to watch Hip-Hop videos with chicita-on-chicita action!!!!
Call me a hypocrite, but hey! All jokes aside, there is a reason why these things are
happening in the human mentality and not in the rest of the animal kingdom.
If you're gay, then be gay. Don't deny it, start a family and eff up your son's/daughter'slife
by adding to the confusion they already face, growing up in this world.
My belief is that the Gay condition is a matter of being trapped in the wrong
body/(un-)consciousness and as a result,being confused/un-connected
about/with the natural order of things; not knowing what it means to be a man;
failing to recognise/face the responsibilities of being a man; and failing to connect
with women on a genuinely physical AND emotionallevel, but at the same time
wanting to act out the female/feminine role....

What I saw backs up this issueof confusion...

Switched on to UK living, hoping to see one of those "I wanna be a stripper" shows,
where 5'5" girlies in bikini's get the audience vote as to whether theyhave what it
takes...Nope!...Black men with families claiming to be straight and acting out the
"Thug Life" at home, but going out late at night to ramp with other blokes!

I was made aware of this phenomenon a few months ago, but didn't really think much of it.
My thoughts were; "What? Them Gay boys that wear baggyLevi's and Wu-Tang
Jumpers, but shape their eye-brows?...that ain't surprising?"
But these men weretalking about "variety being the spice of life" and
toldthe females on the panel that "You may think your man's at the pool hall, but he could be out with me".
And at the same time preaching "I'm not Gay, or Bi-sexual...Hell Naw!...
I'm just a Freek". What the eff is that all about?! No, Really?!

These so called "Down-low" brothers, could step to you like 2Pac, but wanna
take you home and do you like Trina!!!

New York and places like Chicago are hot spots for the Black Gay
Community and the stereotypical images of a Gay person faded away,
when I saw and heard these "men"deny their gayness, while hanging
out on street corners waiting for"Big Will", or "Mike".

The worst thing is that people over here love to follow trends that American's set,
