I am new on this forum, but I just needed somwhere to vent....This has probably been brought up countless times here, however it's really starting to get to my head.
Back to the original question....Have any of you ever wanted to, or wished you could somehow beat it into the average black teens head that he/she doesn't have to do the things you see the rappers and "black stars" doing on TV and in music? I am a teen myself, and I have always tried to go out of my way to be polite and considerate to everyone I interact with in daily life, not only because that was how I was raised to be, but because I feel that if I am this way towards everyone that maybe they will see not all black people are loud, obnoxious drug dealing idiots. It is getting extremely discouraging to see that not only has the "gangster" look and attitude not gone away, it seems to have gotten worse. I just can not understand the thought process that goes through these peoples heads. They complain about white people making generalizations when they were caught a week before on drug possession. They complain about not getting hired to a good job when they skipped class everyday in highschool. I'm not dismissing how badly history has treated black people, but you do not move ahead by giving people more material to use against you.
Too many of my friends do this, and I am getting sick and tired of feeling like (or knowing in some cases) I am being catagorized as the same low lifes they are. I'm sorry if I have offended anyone.
