A leading City figure has been stabbed to death in his home during a burglary.
Legal and General bond dealer John Monckton and his wife Homeyra were attacked by two men in Upper Cheyne Row, Chelsea, west London, on Monday. Mr Monckton, 49, died in hospital and his wife is recovering from emergency surgery. Their nine-year-old daughter, who was in the house, called police. A post-mortem examination at Westminster Mortuary gave the cause of death as stab wounds. Scotland Yard said the men forced their way into the home of the couple at about 7.30pm. They then ran off in the direction of Glebe Place, near the Kings Road.
