There was a report sometimes this yr which said the following:

1 Higher managerial and professional (11% )
Higher managerial: employers of more than 25 staff, and senior managers. Higher professional: doctors, dentists, lawyers

2 Lower managerial and professional (23.5%)
Junior managers, police sergeants, teachers, social workers, journalists

3 Intermediate (14%)
Constables, firefighters, junior prison officers

4 Small employers and own account workers (9.9%)
Non-professionals who employ fewer than 25

5 Lower supervisory and technical (9.8% )
Foremen, supervisors, train drivers

6 Semi-routine (18.6%)
Shop assistants, call centre workers

7 Routine (12.7%)
Drivers, cleaners

so wher do you belong?

@ Coltrane
So what, exactly, is this report saying? Not sure what we are supposed to make of this. How were the stats arrived at? Was this the summary of some survey? How was the survey conducted? Oh my....so many questions, so little time, so few answers.
Bottome line....I don't get it, is it suppose to be telling me something useful?

There are those who feel that the only way to ‘prove their own worth’ is by ‘devaluing the worth of others’. You will often find that a man who is compelled to measure his substance against the substance of another, has little of substance in the first place!

I think I fall into category 2. I can't see the point of this survey either....just plain noseyness, maybe?

Peace

By this classification system I don't feature anywhere...confused3...

... beyond this, who cares?... I've always identified as 'working class' (doesn't this classification exist anymore?) and I will happily do so forever because from I know I'm first class... top class... as classy as you get.... I don't give a rats front bout nuttun else... ...
