@BP

You have very interesting interests. I wish you well with starting the auto club. So you race bikes?Sounds exciting. Did you ever see the film Biker Boyz? The world of black biker clubs was the backdrop for the story of that movie starring Lawrence Fishburne and Derek Luke.

Good thread.niceone.gif

As for sports, I used to be really into tennis a long time ago. I haven't played in a while but would love to be able to get back out on the court. My forehand was my best and favorite shot...not sure if the rhythm and timing is still there because it's been so long.

As for other interests...over the years I have taken an interest in the history of black films. I came up during part of the blackploitation era and have watched with interests how far black films have evolved. The musuem exhibition on the history of African-American filmsI recently attended brought back so many memories for me ...from Blackula, to Shaft, to Do the Right Thing to Soul Food.Seeing those posters, told such a powerful story about ourhistory via films.

One day I would love to start my own film festival because there are some many aspects of the black experience that need to be shared.niceone.gif

I have a friend like you BP, he buys cars and fixes em up then sells em on for tidy profit. Adds some of his own money and gets a better car only to start again.

In two years he worked his way from a old 205 to a nice shiny A3 that he has now which is in the process of being kitted up. He also doesnt hold on to cars for more than a few months... He says he is working his way up to his dream car but I dunno what that is because he wont say LOL No doubts he will do it though.

Me... Outside comics andSci Fi books(very nerdy) I used to DJ but gave that up during a very broke period and sold all my records as well as decks...blkcryAlways pretended one day I would start again but I know thats silly now.

I used to box too and am taking that up again in the new year, found a nice friendly gym (my old one closed down) so that should be fun. I aint been sparked in my head nicely fora fewyears so getting hit will be hmmmm mmm ummm interesting LOL, reactions all slow and stuff now and lack the relative power I had and stamina but in a few months should be back again.

Away from the Internet one of my passions is target shooting. I could spend weekend after weekend shooting. Here lately there has been shortage of certain types of ammo in America and I've had to buy them from Canada which is a little different grain.

Martial Arts. I study an art, Shotokan, and I've also spent more time then I should have at the Dojo just practicing, no other deshi or sensai. These two things are how I release stress.

The rest of my free time is spent with the family......a true joy.

Humans should have pursuits rather than hobbies.

@ Black_power

Do the Right Thing was neither... it was just a classic Spike film, a complex message movie that examined race relations, with the story in this case set in the inner city.

Pistol shooting is easier. All you have to do is be at location out side of the metro city limits and have an rea marked off that will limit the distance up too 100 meters, with a berm (wall of dirt ) more than 10 ft high.

For rifle shooting you can only shoot on designated ranges. Where I shoot there is a buddy of mine that owns some farm land about 30 min away from where I live. I usually go out there and shoot. All he wants is 20 a month to repaint metal targets....its pretty cheap
