Earlier this year I went to lecture on Black people in the media. An article was discussed and this was to do with Patrick Viera spitting at Neil Rudduck. Patrick said that he shamed his race! I don’t recall Voller, or Totti apologising to that level.

Therefore, I ask as black people should we be ambassadors for our race, or cultural heritage? My personal view is that we should, well I do anyway!(I would not haveapologised like Patrick did!) This is in the context of do non-black people really know us. I know I will have to expand on this at some stage and I will; however, comments from the Village are welcome.

Apologising for people is like taking resposibility for them... if you can handle that, then fine. But if it's just a heat of the moment thing or you feel obliged and aren't ready for what it entails then shut up and look after number one - you!
Something is on the way that will literally FORCE us to UNITE...or we will not make it. Simple.

Whether we want to accept it or not, we are each a part of a COLLECTIVE, like bees in a Colony, and each of us has a Natural Duty to contribute to the welfare of the WHOLE.
The reason I feel there should some form of representation is that more often than not we are stereotyped. In my job clients are seeking professional advise from me and my bosses are always trying to second guess me.You may say this is due to my level of expertise (I disagree). This is not always the case for other colleagues.
I don't go around apologising for what black people have done wrong, however, I do need to demonstrate that this black man has his own mind and can articulate it.
It does grieve me when there are unbalanced media reports about black people because we have very little space to address the matter. Therefore in some ways I cannot dismiss things and say that's nothing to do with me.
Although most posters here have said that they represent themselves, do you not think that the wider population(maybe the ignorant ones)are saying 'yeah that is how they all act' when you are carrying out your everyday life?
That is why I am true to myself!
