Interesting Topic.....We've all been there....Question is do U correct decent peeps here or on other Sites where U can clearly see that they constantly either Mis-spell a word or use a Grammatically incorrect phrase....I,for one,ALWAYS want to be corrected however I'm more than wary of gently mentioning "mistakes" to others which might be deemed "patronising"....lol........and the reason this irritates me is that from the Early 1970's thru to Mid-1990's every organisation I worked for always sent every written notification out without any spelling errors as every letter would be checked/authorised by at least 1 other person as a mistake reflected badly on The Company sending said letter...that is until I tempted with Southwark Council for a while.....lost count of the copies of letters on file I saw from different Departments/Sections full of mistakes sent out to the Public......jokers:P

Slightly different I guess but every person I know says PACIFIC instead of SPECIFIC...listen closely to ppl...i hear on TV all the time...I'm ultra sensitive to hearing itnow...my radar just picks it up...also it takes me an age to say the word SPECIFIC now...I have to think before saying it...or use synonyms instead...

What about phrases people use? There is one that newsreaders are constantly saying...

almost exactly

I HATE that!! Its stupid there is no such thing as almost exactly. Its exact or it isnt. The same with very nearly... very nearly??? wtf?

Anyway here is one ALL you Carribeans are guilty of (yes Im generalising and I mean it)

you say ARKS instead of ask. ARKS ARKS What the hell is ARKS? LOL

I used to say par cark for car park lol, I really did.

Dunno about "another think coming". I've heardthat onebefore but I reckon it's a conspiracy to change the lingo! If you do a google search on the two options and check the number of hits it's about 3 to 1 in favour of thing. lol......So I was right all along???....What A Larff

One phrase I used to get wrong as a kid was "on purpose". I started off thinking it meant accidentally. Wondered why I kept getting in trouble when I said "I did it on purpose"! ....lol........
