It seem as though only displaced Africans seem to have to wonderful love infactuation with AFrica...it is doubtful there is one song that can united Africa.
Africanswar against each other...War because of thin noses or big noses. War againsteach otherbecause of tall Africans or short Africans. War because one is black and another is Arab, and both are Afrian. War with African because one support communism andone support Democrazy. *shrugz*.....and the blame lies at the feet ofEuropeans and not African themselves.
Most of the Africans I meet are scientists or students. I've met Nigerians that have an undying love for Nigeria. Ghanians (hope I said that right) that have an unbeatable love for Ghana....my wife's best friend is from Eritria and she says she would give her life for her country (interestingly enough she says that while purchasing a 500k house and owning two SUV's, in America)....the only people that I see who have an undying love for Africa.......are the ones who were not born in Africa. The only people that I meet that have a fanciful, mysterious love for Africa are the ones who have never known Africa has home. The only people that I meet that see African as a heavean for peace and beauty....are the people who (for whatever reason) don't live in Africa.
However for Black/African Americans....we do have a song.
LIFT EV'RY VOICE AND SING
also known as "The Black National Anthem"
by James Weldon Johnson
Lift ev'ry voice and sing,
Till earth and heaven ring.
Ring with the harmonies of Liberty;
Let our rejoicing rise,
High as the list'ning skies,
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea.
Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us,
Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us;
Facing the rising sun of our new day begun,
Let us march on till victory is won.
Stony the road we trod,
Bitter the chast'ning rod,
Felt in the days when hope unborn had died;
Yet with a steady beat,
Have not our weary feet,
Come to the place for which our fathers sighed?
We have come over a way that with tears has been watered,
We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered,
Out from the gloomy past,
Till now we stand at last
Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast.
God of our weary years,
God of our silent tears,
Thou who has brought us thus far on the way;
Thou who has by Thy might,
Led us into the light,
Keep us forever in the path, we pray.
Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee,
Lest our hearts, drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee,
Shadowed beneath thy hand,
May we forever stand,
True to our God,
PaRrIs

Think you're a bit off base , Parris.
There are economic opportunities outside of Africa that people are smart to take advantage of.....doesn't mean they love their homeland(s) any less.
After the end of colonization, these countries are going through growing pains that every country goes through...
in the meantime, people have to do what they have to do to live......and send money back home.
And you trivialized the reasons behind wars in Africa....
wars are often between different groups over resources.... the countries ovr there were carved up to put several different and unique groups together and call them all "Country X" 25 separate ethnic groups at least....with their own history, langauge,etc....under one flag....they are bound to be conflicts.
the major wars over there are over control of natural resources ...it might pit people of different religions , physical apperances,etc agaisnt each other..but it's off base to say things like
"War because of thin noses or big noses. War against each other because of tall Africans or short Africans. War because one is black and another is Arab, and both are Afrian. War with African because one support communism and one support Democrazy. "
I hear your point..but you're patronizing people...the conflicts over there are over the same things wars have always been over.....land, resources, and political control... and the ethnic differences(at least) are VERY real.....
hard for us diasporic Africans to comprehend that...because often we just see "Africans"....

Africa is not a country, but a continent with over 40 different countries in it, ergo it cannot have a "national" anthem. No continent on this planet has an anthem. Heck, no continent on this planet has a continent-wide language in which such an anthem would be sung.

No. Nobody wars over "thin noses or small noses". Nobody wars over "tall Africans" or "short Africans". If you have any examples of the circumstances you're describing, I'd like to hear them.

Strangely enough the Tanzanian NAtional Anthem and the South African national anthems although they are in different languages are the same in meaning and melody: Nkosi sikelele Africa, Mungu ibariki Africa ..........

No.. because Africa is not a nation.. therefore, there is no national-anthem
And no, there is no African flag neither.
