Yesterday whilst watching the news they were talking about Traffic Wardens who now have to be ascoted by the police because of the violence committed on them. They told the story of wardens who have had guns pulled on them, violently attacked and one particular story was of a wardern who had black painted that was heated and then thrown on him. His supervisor whose face was hidden from the camera along with all the other wardens who refused to be shown from fear of being recognised said this particular warden who had the heated paint thrown on him had not even issued a ticket. So it seems he was targeted from a recent ticket issue for the person to take time to heat up oil and wait for him.

What was more shocking is that London tonight did a poll to get peoples views and the majority infact nearly all replies stated that the wardens deserved everything they got because they are quick to issue out tickets and don't even inject any compassion to certain incidents....the level of hatred that came across in the emails was extremely high.

Westminster council was again the height of the topic where figures showed they make 52% profit on parking fees whereas other borough make a profit loss after cost are taken out. The public are disgusted by this blatent money making scheme especially when incidents like this occur.....

...............today on the news was a story of a man in the borough of Ealing who had his car parked legally and Ealing council removed the car, painted a yellow line in the place then put the mans car back on the spot and issued him with a ticket for illegal parking

With behaviour such as these I don't think the emergency button that many wardens have been issued to walk with will be much help for them as there is such hatred for these people and this profession.

Two Sisters

Whilst I understand the anger, no one deserves the level of violence thrown at the wardens. They are just doing their jobs. However they are being encouraged to issue as many tickets as possible to drum up revenue.

blktypeI think someone, (the government and local councils), should back off a little and give motorists some breathing space; when it comes to someone being fined because they ate an apple whilst stationery, somebody has got to say stop.

Man, A Traffic Warden is turning out to be one of the most dangerous jobs a person can have.
Why is it that, as with many of those 'less-than-desirable-jobs' Traffic Warden is one where Blacks seem able to get into with relative ease? No talk of 'under-representation' in that job.

I guess it is an easy choice to put blacks on the 'frontline' in those positions that attrack scorn, abuse and (as the evidence shows) extreme violence.

Yes it really surprised me that no one seems to express any sympathy for the man who was attacked with the hot paint even though a picture of him with the paint was shown it was horrible.

Backatya once again your correct as every warden on the programme was black and the piece showing wardens being trained to use the emergency tool they were all black as well except for the trainer. My friend told me that her neighbours husband actually left this profession and now works for his local borough emptying the bins and job that he used to scorn before he became a warden.
