I hate whencertain Africans immigrate to US, Canada, or UK and act as if they're not from Africa or lie and say they're just American or Canadian, or British. I'm not talking lying becauseyour papers arent' straight I'm talking about those ignorant ones with legal papers, who come from Africa, but are shame to say it. They annoy me more than black Americans who act ignorant.

It is important to rememebr your roots and not deny them.
I also have noticed people from certain countries are embarrassed by their natural accents and try to adopt the voice of their new homeland. It is a sad state of affairs and i think has a lot of to with self-confidence and a false perception that some countries are better or more respectable than others.

That's ridiculous. Africans should be proud of who they are know matter what. If they're ashamed of being African then they're ashamed of GOD.

I notice alot of people from certain countries(not gonnasay)do this often. They should learn more about their country's contributions to Africa and the worldbefore they resign themselves to such shame.

Alright...I know what you mean bro...
I don't know what's up with some of mypeople.
Everytime I meet a person..especially a black person with an accent my curiosity gets the best of me and I almost always ask them where they're from.
The only people that ever give me the "run around" are the Africans.
They grin at me and say shit like:
I'm from right here just like you....you see.
or
I from no where man...why ask me such a thing??
If they do admit their African origin, instead of telling me what country they're from they'll say "I'm from West Africa" or "We're from Central Africa" as if I don't know one country from the next.
I guess most AfroAmericans don't and they assume I'm the same.
confused3Usually I let it go....
But if it's a pretty nice looking chick, I might bust out on her with some knowledge about her country most bruthaz here don't know and watch her eyes light up with excitement.
Yeah....I got ya now....thought we were all ig'nant didn't ya?
But another thing that disturbs me is that most Africans I meet claim to be royalty for some reason.
Damn, EVERY...I'm not lying...EVERY single one I meetclaims either to be a prince or princess.
I check the timing and don't give the conversation 10 minutes before it comes out.
First they look around both ways and behind...then get up close to me and say:
"You know...back in my country I am a prince/princess....no lie"
I guess they know better than to claim King or Queen.
I'm joking but I'm serious as ice-water....that's what they all say to me.
Because the steel is black...the attitude is exact. - Public Enemy
