Just trying to get different perspectives on the issue..

If you live elsewhere please feel free to provide input on where you live or the respective countries

I have yet to visit the UK, but the image I get from friends and relatives is one where blacks don't too much care for each other in England(so I hear). I see alot of perspectives about it on this site also. Maybe there are contrary perspectives that may shed some light somewhere else, I would love to see them if possible.

I'll probably catch some flack for this also, BUT I feel the reason blacks in America(whetherblack American, African, or Caribbean) stick together more is because America facilitates more black/African pride and unity thanin the UK. Must be something in the social fabric I dont' know. I've been to Canada several times and I notice it's sort of like the US but also like the UK with the intra-racial xenaphobia...

Yes I'm trying to stir up some more thought into this.

Lol you're not staring up anything.....i couldn't give a monkey what other blacks in the US thinks.....the fact of the matter is, there is always power in numbers....you have millions of Africans over there and that number gives you some kind power and visibility!

Whilst for us here in the UK, we are like 1 or 1 1/2% of the total population, so what do you expect?? And about the unity thing....thats rubish also! Most Africans here in the UK do work along side eachjust fine! When we arrived here, we were welcomed by all sorts of Africans....Guineans, Ghanains, Nigerians ect.....

Many of my brothers's businesscontacts are Ethiopians and Nigerians, that shows that we are working together on bulding businesses and so forth.....

Wehave a long way but i think we are doing just fine......

Seriously, it's good to hear other opinions. I plan on visiting there in the near future to experience a little for myself, but I just wanted to get more opinions on the issue.

Africans usually work together of course, but what about African Caribbean relations there?

Actually, blacks are 12% of the population in the US.

Broken down I think therejust under1 millionAfricans total, 32 million black Americans, and I'm not sure how many Caribbean, I heard something like 1 million, but not sure.

I actually agree with you about not caring what blacks in the US Think. I believeYOU personallyreally don't care what African-Americans think of you, but I also believe that what we do, what we wear, our music, our culture, how we talk and act is a focus for MANY black Britishs, (mostly I've seen under 25)specifically and Africans throughout the world in general.
Quote:
I do not think there is NO unity with regard to Black in the US, Blacks in Britian, or Blacks in Africa.....what I do believe is that there isn't ENOUGH UNITY, and those that have their own self interest in mind are more abundant than those that have their people in mind OR they would rather blame another, and not act. Thus no unity. We can't talk to each other, we can't relate to each other, we can't disagree with each other with want to harm each other.

Whether its in this room, in America, in Britian, or on the continent of Africa. NO UNITY
Quote:
An Example I've been giving recently is more than 90% of AFrican Americans disgaree with Bush yet only 45% of Us voted, and that's with an increase of 4.5 million. Even our decenting voices could not unify. NO UNITY
Quote:
There have been more than 8 African-American candidates for President since Shirley Chisholm in 1968. But they never garnered more than 10% of the African-American vote. NO UNITY.

Are we talking about a few bruthaz in a foot ball game. Or the hommies I chill with over beer and pokers chips on Saturday (BNB) Before new born.

Or are we talking about the more than 1 billion Africans, and those of African acestroy world wide.

I mean if we are talking about a few bruthaz……….pssht,…..I would have to agree with you whole heartedly.

That latter……hmmm……, I mean we can't even unity on THIS SITE...So unity? not so sure.

Mr. Monkey, tsk, tsk, tsk, so unlike you to leave such a wide opening.

My point is that if small groups can be unified despite this BIG differences we all go on about, then really UNITY is not such a dream but rather and achievable goal. Something to work toward rather than shy away from.

:P

Diversity of opinion is good. Exposure to other opinions is good.

I hope this thread stays informative and constructive...

"Africa/Black unity United States vs. United Kingdom"

don't think that there is a Brit v Yank Black thing.

The people with power in both countries don't see a difference, but they will expose any that can be found.

I look forward to the day when along with my black brothers and sisters in exile we can march under one banner. May be one of you 'artie' typescould come up with a Black Flag.

There is only black black black black black.

Looks good anyway you write it

PeACe
