A quick question to anyone old enough to know the answer, can anyone tell me when or what yearshops in this country stopped closing for good Friday & Easter Monday?
Also I'd be grateful if anyone can tell when shops in this country stopped closing on half days on Wednesday and Thursday, if anyone remembers this of course some you may not, but if you do tell me thanks?

Hi I don't really know when the shops stopped shutting half day for easter but I think it's because of the fact that we became such a multicultural country and therefore because of equality if we couldn't shut for Diwali, Ramaddan and all the otherreligious festivals then why should we close for Easter I'm currently on holiday in the carribean and it seem like I'min a desert NO SHOPSARE OPEN. None at all not even the corner shop owned by the asians at the top of our road. The reason for that is most probably because the majority of the population are christian or follow the easter festival. It's so nice everyone is gong on picnics and flying kites after church maybe we have lost all tradition and the commercial side of religion has taken over because nearly every shop in UK was selling Easter Eggs, Easter Cards and it xactly the same at Xmas.
