An English professor wrote the words, "a woman without her man is nothing" on the board, and directed the students to punctuate it correctly.
The men in the class wrote:
"A woman, without her man, is nothing."

@BeleWho needs sleepblksnore?
I just find it embarrassing when you hear people chat such foolishness. Often when you hear a womenmake a statement like theabove,it gives out the exact opposite of the desiredimpression they were hoping to achieve. The women is trying to say look at me!I'm not needy! I rely upon myself only! There is of course nothing wrong with being independent, but why do women put men down, to make themselves sound more independent or powerful? Why is seen asa weakness to admit that you need someone? Which ever way you read the above statement each sex believes itself to be the most important. And that my dear is, as I said beforeis crap.niceone.gif

u guys are right.. but to answer fizzy b's question on the serious side, fair enough u could think that and it's true everybody needs somebody, but many also say that when they can't find someone good and society has to ask them questions about their single status or question their worth as a female if they havn't got someone 'owning them' ( I mean the term 'owning them' as in, taken care of, boyfriend, someone who treats you nice, takes you out , buys you stuff., conversates, fulfils needs etc).
sometimes people are called lesbians, gays, feminists, committment-phobes, loners, loads of names just coz they are not constantly looking for a date/relationship/to get married. they also say it when people are in between relationships - there are those who act like u always have to be in a relationship or rush to get married or act like "you're nobody till somebody loves u". think of cultural pressures from relatives, nosy friends, people eager to be grand parents or to look a certain way in their community. there are genuine pressures which evoke this response from someone, which in turn can make it a genuine response , rather than one full of self-doubt and insecurities. saying they are fine without a man doesn't necessarily mean men are no good or to put them down.
Just to answer your question. It's not always a diva/ attitudey response or the need to be seen as strong. many people are subject to pressure to have 'somebody' and need to let people know the truth that they are fine, it's not necessarily male bashing.
some people also say this as a result of being abandoned or seriously let down by a mate, whether it involves, conjugal, familial or simple relationship responsibilities and need to be strong. people in general, even where it involves loss of a friends, job or opportunity say , i didn't want the job, friendship or opportunity anyway". But if it involves talking about a certain sex , people label it as a sour grapes attitude. it isn't always so.
According to the context I think something like this can be justified. there are many sides to the story.... relax.
