Today I went to this chinese thai restaurant to treat my two friends who have birthdays close together and we had a good time. Food was good, service quick, etc
When I went to pay I thought I give them a tip £5 on a meal that costs £23 is quite good. The dumb chick almost mumbles a thank you and directs me where to put the tip and my friends was like 'you shuld have taken the cash back''. It ws the first time I had tipped and it will be the last, at a chinese restaurant anyways.
Anyways, has any1 stopped tipping after a similar incident or am I reading to much into this
Any replies will be appreciated

Some places the staff are not allowed to take tips. It has to go to a tips box and they all share it.
I dont tip anyway as a principle. They get a wage. Nobody tips me...

saying that, if you were in france (certain parts i know of anyways)and in any food place whether its a cafe or resturant, your expected to give a tip. Its customary and if you dont, its an insult. So most people leave something- not cheap change neither.lol. needless to say, i dont head down there often

I always tip if i feel I've recieved a good service, and no DM service staff are NOT well paid. Normally I give between £2-3 depending.. If I'm in a large group we will give a much larger donation I think that is correct practise personally..

Like others have said, I only tip if I feel I received good service.
Otherwise they can forget it

Kunjufu
That is what minimum wage is for.
Cleaners dont get paid well and nobody pays them? Nobody tips dustbinmen. Nobody tips the cook or chef who actually made the food.
No sir. I dont tip. I dont see how some jobs require me to tip them simply because they come into contact with public. I dont tip the chick at footlocker who brings me my trainers and finds my size do I?
They get a wage and that is fair enough.
