Dont hold peoples heads too softly and limp. I dont like thinking the barber is caressing me.
Dont push peoples heads to hard, you might start a fight like that.
LISTEN to what the customer wants EXACTLY... dont go improvising
Have a healthy store of disses in stock for people who come to the barbers with dirty, uncombed, flaky heads. It amuses the rest of us waiting no ends... I remember the barber put clippers to one guys head and got stuck, he said "wha'appn? the combs in your house on strike?"The whole shop was laughing...
Dont put the pretty girl who does people's braids and plaits in a little room at the back, bring her out front so we can all see.
Be quick but thorough. Some barbers do go job but take so long the clippers are near red hot when they finish.
Make sure they are sharp but dont cut me man... that goes for my ears too!
ASK before you start on someones beard!! Not everybody wants it taken off.
Practice on your little brother, not customers.

Please dont turn this thread into a "homo" thing. I am seriouse about becoming a barber and need more info then just "dont caress the head" and "dont blow on ears". If I got to worry about a bruh scared of getting his head touched in the barber chair because he thinks I am trying to "holla" then perhaps this aint the business for me. I refuse to be on pins and needles cause a dude is thinking I am making a pass at him (when all I'm trying to do is give a bruh a hair cut) offtopic.gifAll the other suggestions were pretty valid and I apreciate that.

Chill
We playing with you...
It is BECAUSE those dudes are on pins and needles that they do that. They scared of messing it up so they are all soft and so on... Be confident when cutting a head. Simple!
That cloak you throw around a guy to protect his clothes from hair... clean that.
Sweep the floor. That's important.
If you're gonna put pictures up of all the dudes heads you cut before that you are proud of... make sure that they are THAT good. I seen barbers showing off with pics of standard fades before. Also make sure they are heads that YOU cut and that you can do it again.
BP
That is a good one. You need a fresh trim when you go out. Moneyto be made there for sure.

Aight bruhs.....I'm chillin niceone.gif. These are all good ideas man. So much to consider never the less once I perfect this trade, a bruh is gonna be AT THE TOP! Yo also tell me this, besides giving you a good and nearly perfect cut, what does one have to do to gain you as clientele (making sure you come back again).

Make me come back? Be quick, tidy and clean. Have either sports on the radio or good music. Good music depends on where you live and your clientele.
I only have a few more tips...
Some chat is cool but pay attention to customer. If he dont wanna chat, dont chat!
Make sure to use brush and get rid of all those little hairs that cling to mans face at the end.
offtopic.gifAt the barber shop I go to I wont let one dude cut my hair because one day I went there with my Man U shirt on and he had Arsenal shirt on. We sized each other up and started cussing (jokes I mean)... but I dont trust that dude lol He might carve 14 on my head or something.

From a customers stand point something that always attracts me to a particular barber is if he gives me something extra for free. My barber always grooms my facial hair for free..It's normally an extra $3.00.. You dont have to do it all the time, but just enough for you to get them to be a repeating customer....I actually tend to tip him alittle more b/c of it
And remeber not all black peoples hair texture is the same...For some reason my hair is straight on the top and curly on the sidesconfused2...Ive honestly have never seen nothin like it..So when I get my hair cut by certain barbers they cut it like everyone else..The problem is my hair comes out lookin weird if its cut "normally"....A truly good barber should know how to adjust thier style to different hair textures...
Lastly NEVER say the word "Ooops", even if you mess up...a brotha will freak out if he hears it.
