Up until August 2004 i had been taking driving lessons for a little over a year and i had passed my theory test. But i had to stop the lessons when my course started and i moved. I was going to take up lessons again in my new area but there was never time. Now at the end of my course i want to do a three or four day intensive course to pass my test by June 26th. If i don't pass by then, i will have to retake my theory test, which i really don't want to do (i passed it second time around). I have found a driving school who does it in my area, and their prices are pretty much the same as everywhere. I have emailed with a couple of queries and once they have been answered i want to book it.
But i am a bit wary. How much driving is involved (i read 30-40 hours a week, but not sure how many days that is) Who has taken and passed an intensive course? What schools (in south east london) would you recomend? any other comments?

@ madam butterfly, hows your placement going? Hope youu enjoying yourself
Anyways, I dont know about Intensive courses but you know how to drive so it might very well be worth taking it. I know Jamelia passed her test using intensive but ont know any1 personally. (Cost is a mother ****er)
Its a good idea though

thanks Cash! I AM enjoying my placement!!! its going a billion times better than my other one (even if i DO have to get up at 5.30 every morning and have to commute for an hour and a half from isleworth to croydon lol) Yeah, i have heard of a couple of people passing their tests this way but, like you, know none personally. Some say that driving for that long everyday does your head in, but it is ony for 3-4 days so confused3

My issues with Intensive Courses is that you can do one in the half term, where theres little traffic, etc and it wont prepare you for the reality, big traffic jams, idiotic, inconsiderate drivers
HOWEVER!!! You have experience in driving so you really have nothing to lose. I say you should go for it, most def.

Thanks BP, and i will definatly look into residential coursesniceone.gifHad you had lessons before you took the intensive course? I think 40 hrs is the minimum generally, whether they are intensive lessons or not, as most schools offer intensive lessons ranging from 1-5 days. Anyway i guess its best to do it during the summer months when days are longer, though it is probably good to have experince of night driving. I reckon i will spend the first few hours reaquianting myself with the controls and manouvers as the last time i was behind a wheel was last septemberwhen my mums ex let me drive his estate about 10 feet when he helped me move lol. it will probably be 6-10 hourse a day as i think they go by how many lessons you have had (or not had) before.

per BP's suggestion, i have just found a lady instructer in Blackpool. For four day lessons (6 hours a day) and full board it is £537, which isn't too bad. Only thing is i would need to pay in full by the end of this month. Stil looking around though.

thanks Maffy! feeling more confidantniceone.gif both my sis's took and quit driving lessons. One even bought a car as an incentive, but it just stayed in her drive till it rusted down and the council removed it (!) My mum took her test about 3 times and kept failing over little stuff so gave up. So i am now my familys great hope for passing my test and getting a car. (Do i LOOK like my name is Parker to them )

Oh my days when you pass your family is going to take the living biscuit with you.....thats what we did when my sister passed and got a car straight away. LMAO the second week she had the car my mother promptly informed her that "We" are going to the seaside my mum got so carried away forgetting that there are more family members than car seat spaces......check out the joke when my sister pointed this out to her ....my mums reply was surely you can do 2 trips you got a car now it won't take you long.
Just remember MB we are here for you when you need to chat ......so tell me what type of taxi ooops sorry I mean car do you plan on getting for yourself.
