This thread is inspired by another on this forum but as its kind of different I thought I would start a fresh thread.

Question:Can you have African features which are "ugly", want to change them and not be self-hating by wanting to change them?

I tell you why I ask this question, about 5 months back I saw a man with a nose the likes of which I had never seen before ANYWHERE. Now it wasnt a facial deformity it was his nose.

To give you an idea of what it looked like his left nostril started from about the middle of his cheekbone and the right nostril started on his right cheekbone.

It completely overpowered his face, when I saw him I did think God he must have caught hell for that nose growing up coz as we know children are cruel and so are adults and for the first time in my life I contemplated whether or not I would get plastic surgery if I had a nose like his.

And the answer is yes, for no other reason than to get my nose in line with the rest of the majority of the people in my race.I dont think thats self-hating, I just think that I wouldnt want to stick out that much.

Im not an advocate of plastic surgery at all unless you have some major disfigurement or were in some type of accident,but if I had a feature which completely overwhelmed my face African or Caucasian I think I would have to consider it.

I know human beings require a certain degree of symmetry to find a face appealing,so that would be my motivation I guess.

Any thoughts?

Jett darling i think people, especially us blacks are the worst HYPOCRITES in the world. Simple.....if i was that man that you saw, i wouldn't even think ONCE about what other blacks would say about me getting plastic surgery on the nose.

Most of these morons who go around judging blacks who get a little plastic surgery are the worse of hypocrites....i can bet you my arms that in their despair they do wish they were just a little lighter...etc...issues..

I don't care what anyone says, if i had a million bucks today i would do a liposuction on my African backside and hips and thighs...why?? Simply because i WANT to, and i am sick and tired of the frigin gym:PI don't even know how to start hating myself....i was born with this skin, both my parents look like me and so do majority where i come from, so i am not having it from some confused hypocrites blacks in the West who by the way, worships anything that just looks a like a Miss Berry......I wait for the day one would dare judge me.

You see, in Africa majority of people wouldn't care.....perhaps because we don't discuss race 24/7....but here its a nightmare if a black person does their nose, in fact anything and its like a crime.

Now, unless the person is heading the Mr Jackson way, then please, just shut the fook up!

i don't think of it as self hatred...

i don't think that one should change something, because of what others don't like about them...but if that is something that they don't like about themselves, then they have every right to change it... i have no right to tell someone what to do with their bodies...thats just me though

Hmmm maybe it says more about me that his nose gave me pause....

I can hand on heart say that I am not a self-hating black person, but I honestly dont know if I could function in society with a nose like that, I mean it really was unlike anything I have ever seen before and I challenge any of you to live with it after enjoying*your own level of attractiveness*,it would be hard as hell.

Just so I can put you in the picture this wasnt just a big/wide nose like Jay-Z or Chris Eubank,this nose was three times the size and spread across his face.

Could you live with that ???

No offence intended to those out there with a huge proboscis ,anyway no matter how big it is it wont be a patch on the one im talking about,so dont worry,cancel your surgery.
