See thats the problem right there, blacks care to much about what white people think about them and weither they except them or not. Ofcourse white people will walk away from a movie stereotyping even more then they did before. To hell with THOSE white people and I dont know where yall from, but around my way movies like boyz in the hood is real. I know adleast 5 young black men and 2 women personally that died this year alone behind drug deals gone bad, beef, robberies and someone killed there baby mother so i think issues like this need to be known by blacks so we can fix them. Call me old fashion, but im like the old black ladies that feels family business is just that and we shouldnt be discussing our issues infront of white people because they will just turn around and use it against us. EX: black man discusses his problems with sisters to his white girlfriend and now the white girl uses this information as proof of her superiority and attacks black females with the information she got from brothers. Or white people see movies like this and hear about black on black crime and use this information to say that blacks are savages. So we need to stop giving them information on us and infultrators that are part of our race but discuss our many issues with whites to make them personally look better or different should be exposed and treated like a traitor.

Having seen Boyz N The Hood, as a white viewer, I have to say this film doesn't simply portray American black youth as gangbangers and thugs. There is a range of black characters in the story, including young people with academic ability or sporting talent, and those who reject the violent lifestyle... also of course, Furious Styles the father (if I remember his name right) who takes responsibility for "dropping science" and educating the younger generation.

This is not just a film full of stereotypes in my opinion. But I agree... why worry what white viewers think of it; some of them may interpret it in a simple minded way, some may be more open-minded about it, but it's not something a black community needs to be concerned about.
