A is 20 and on New Deal. He spends an hour a day walking to work and an hour walking back, does a full week, and gets about £40 a week.
No chance of that ever turning into a properly paid job, though- when the period of getting a free employee off the govt. runs out, the boss apparently fires his New Deal peons and recruits more.
For some reason the papers don't carry stories like that... probably because the papers are too busy carrying right wing propaganda dressed up as "news".
