But I bet you didn\'t know
You\'re my sugar honey iced tea, baby
You\'re just as sweet as can be
Your momma must be made of sugar
Your daddy makes honey
And that\'s what makes sense to me, oh!

1..2..3..4, Okay I'll be civil because this is a worthwhile topic.

"
Why:
In order to figure out why we need to first go back in time to determine what life was like before hatred and Bashing. My research points to Egypt but being a Diasporan African I'll go back to the Arab invasion and imposition of Islam on Africans then the superimposition of Christianity on Africans. How does one love oneself when his idea of "God" or the "Creator" doesn't look like him? When you worship or are forced to worship another man's deity that says, one sins, /hell/heaven and turn the other cheek while you are being bashed, you internalize this crap then you have issues. This worshiping of White and Arabian/asians resonates into the subconscience and turns one to destroy him/herself. You literally have no self worth as a person. You are the victim, a book or books say your servitude, genocide and so forth is justified and you accept this.
Also being at the bottom of the barrel crabs converge and destroy one another.
In the USA the Black self image s forged in an environment of racism, sexism and struggle. We are always bombarded with negative imagery to the point that many of us don't trust ourselves. Negative stereotypes take a life of their own and people act this crap out further enforcing the notion of inferiority and no self worth, that is why it is easy for us to kill each other and not our real enemy.
Black Cultures, remember were forged in an environment of Black contempt, who we are today is reflective of political and life struggles. Although we came this far we gotta realize that Cecil Rhodes left a legacy of self doubt; in South Africa whites having access to the best and giving Blacks the worst of the economy, education, food and more will leave doubts; in the Caribbean people being told they were nothing but a vacation destination where Homosexuals infected poor boys, and the women prostituted themselves to feed their families because of a legacy of colonialism that created this situation; and the legacy of Jim Crow intimidation, Willie Lynch, and Alabama governors left an indelible mark. To put it bluntly, the years of abuse have allowed the self-hatred you so repeatedly speak of to become a part of the culture, the genes are fine but the cultural continuity of these experiences have been pervasive and will forever remain a part of the Black experience until we have a moratorium on What healthy Black culture is and needs to be(define it), enforce it and get that Paper.

The only topics that aren't designed to outline some flaw in the Black Race are the ones that harp on Racism which is virtually non-existent and a non-factor in our lives.

The reason there are so many posts that deal with the negativity is: we have an abundance of problems to deal with as a race of people, ignoring them won't make them go away. I don't believe people are harping on our peoples flaws because they believe our people are inferior, rather, I believe people are tired of seeing so many of us struggle, and truly want to figure out solutions to positively impact our community. You can't solve a problem until you fully understand it.
I vehemently disagree with your assertion that "racism is virtually non-existent". The jobs many of our people work at are White owned and controlled(we have many here giving advice on starting Black owned businesses, like Le Moor); many of our children are learning in Eurocentric school systems(we have many here that are seeking change in that regard, like Baron and Masai); we have corrupt White dominated political systems(we have Kunjufu, Coltrane, etc. showing the warts of that system to those whom may not be politically astute); and yes "self-hatred"(a form of White supremacy, which is based in racism) is a part of many of our people(we have you hammering home that point). The point of that long ass sentence was: all of us are seeking improvement for our people worldwide; all of us realize we have many ills to deal with, because of this, we share knowledge with one another; we gain knowledge from one another.
You and your detractors want the same thing(the rise of our people), but you have different viewpoints on the nexus of our peoples problem, those viewpoints are up for challenge(and that's a good thing), but these differences shouldn't lead to animosity between Black people, whom claim to want the advancement of our people.

RB,
I think you have a good point, there seems to be much hatred and animosity in the topics here.
From some of the responses to your question, I feel the need to clarify your meaning. I can see two possibilites
1) "this is what I see happening. Whydo you think this is happening? What can we do to turn it to positive thinking?"
2) "Why are black people always complaining? Its about time for them to stop"
I understood you to be saying no. 1). But looking at some of the responses to your post it seems many think you are saying no. 2) Can you say which (if any) is closer to what you meant?

lol, I feel some tension in this room,
But the thread asks a good question that I wonder about often. It seems like everytime i turn around (even in the real world, not online) i hear other races and blacks themselves degrading blacks in some way direct or indirect.
Although this is a little off topic, but i was just talking to my cousin about what Bill Cosby said, and my cousin believes blacks have the problems they have because of the ghetto names they pick for their children. He feels they should stop naming their kids stuff like "shamika, shaniqua, tyrone, melquan, Shaneenee, tanika, jashawn, jerome" because those names are too black sounding names and toocommon and everyone has them and we should choice more american names like "peter, paul, michael, sarah, jane, ben, sally, maria, helen" because there classier. Im like those names are just as commen as the so-called ghetto names and whose to say they are classier? And why is it ok for every spanish person to be named jose, juanor maria or italians names peter, paul and marie? It seems like people, other blacks including find something wrong with blacks no matter what. On this board its probably so many self hating topics because its a reflection of the black people in our societywho are brainwashed.
I also KNOW that racism is real and not a figment of black people's imagination and only an insensative white person or a brainwashed black person would say racism doesnt exist. The person that does say that and your black, come to my neighborhood and be driving and i promise you will be stopped and searched adleast once even if your following all traffic laws. They will make up an excuse like there was a robbery in the neighborhood and will ask you can they search your car, but if you say no, they will arrest you and do it anyway.
To believe is to have doubt and no facts but to know is to have facts and no doubt.
