@ALL

Just wanted to let you all know (SAD) , but i have learnt some valuable lessons in my life in becoming a stronger young black female. Ignorance is so ugly, i feel that now i am learning notto be ignorant, to which has opened my eyes so much its unbelivable i feel empowered to what am seeing and am seeing so much beauty its wonderful.

Also it has open up my eyes to all theignoramus small mindedblack people out there who aint got to offer jack...to this world but hateand lack of understanding of differnt ways of black life, and i for one don't want to be one of them. You know the ones, the ones who want to do the same ole things, the ones who dont wanna get out and see different things and people, do something different with there life, be around the same ole people, the same ole S*** bascially thats pulling you down to be ignorant.

Its sad though because they are missing out on the beautiful differentlife of this world.

Q

How do you all feel about black ignorance?

@Miss P. A lot of human behaviour is about two basic things. Confidence and power or weakness and fear. People who tend to be most ignorant are actually also fearful and frightened peple who deep down lack confidence and have to hold on to their certainties. They are also terriffied of being left alone and why if a group members says let's try something new, they will rally the rest to diss or apply pressure to keep you right there.

It is about them and not about you. Remember especially when young lack of confidence is a key of most peer and freindship groups so they try to keep people in check eg how you talk, or flex or fashion or othe expectationsetc.

Ignorance is the enemy of development, civilsiation and progress.

Peace.

I believe that the term is simply, ignorance.

I check for what your saying but adding the slant 'black' to it makes our box even smaller!!

I think ignorance is not such a bad thing, I understand it as not knowing something. It's the ones who choose to not know that really scare me!

Miss Price

Don't worry yourself about the ignorant people. Most of us know how fraustrating these people can be. You sometimes wonder if they are from a different planet! lol! But remember at one point you mayhad been percieved to be exactly like that as you grew to learn.

The wayI look on it, those of us who are concious, should really keep on trying to achieve goals that the 'ignorant' would eventually benefit from anyway.

The parents who are now ignorant;because of the work that we do, it may be that their children will not be.

All good.

When it comes to Big Brother or EastEnders I'm in complete ignorance.

People with the knowlegde of Big Brother and EastEnders think they're better than me because of that.

Go figure.

Information brings knowledge,

Knowledge brings understanding,

Understanding brings realization,

Realization brings right-mindedness,

Right-mindedness brings wisdom.

Certain types of knowledge will only get you so far. Probably about as far as b**ching about the ignorant. Especially when one is lacking the understanding of why they're ignorant in the first place. Of course lacking that realization would hinder ones ability to exercise rightmindedness, so naturally would lack the wisdom on such matters anyway.

So tell me, whatis the sort of person who has the knowledge to teach the ignorant but doesn't anyway?

I'm glad you came to the realization that you are surrounded by an oversupply of ignorant people.

Unfortunately for me I have been forced to deal with them far to long. I have lost all hope that they will suddenly become enlightened.

There is an old proverb that says, "He that walks with wise persons will become wise, and he that has dealings with the stupid will fare badly."

There are a lot of stupid people in the black community at large!

Ignorance doesn't have a color.

However ignorance and stupidity are two different things.

Ignorance is curable stupidity is a more serious problem.

I have begun to think lately that EGO is a seperate issue. I have noticed plenty of White people with a little knowledge having more intellectual selfconfidence than Black people with more intelligence. Self doubt is a killer.

Miss Price,

Yep! you do miss out by staying in the same place. The older I get I realize that I want more out of life. I was never brought up in a singular environment, but I just desire more in life. I now discovered that I do not want to be stucl in the same ol same ol. I find myself being incredibly bored. Maybe that was something that I didn't discover about myself until the latter years. There use to be a time where I just wanted to be home, now I want to travel the world, not only to have fun, but to be enlightened, but to be educated about someone else, their culture and so on. Everytime I tell a family member this, they'll say look ar Rick Steves travel in Europe shows, but that is not enough. Seeing it on TV and being there ae two different things.

In my opinion, you cannot learn the truth about mankind nor can oyou understand the world if are in you own little community. You miss out on so much by staying in you own cove. As a kid, I remembered how my parents carried on on their own little international excursion. Iwas exposed to every race and culture. I even remebered being around the filthy rich and around the famous. I just was never around one particular thing. I guess that is why I cannot stand being in singular settings, situations an dplaces. I get bored with it very quickly.

errrm, no. Number one i woul'dnt go to italy only milan for shopping, actually no thats a lie yes i would. Am learning about different black cultures around the world, which for me is so refreshing, as my closest friends are from different cultures that i would not normally socialisewith. Prior to this i was very ignorant.
