Since i was young i always wanted to be a model, i'm black, 17 and about 5'6, dunno if i'v got what it takes cos i kno you have to be really beautiful but if there are any models out there, (male or females) could you please tell me how you got into modeling etc... if this is for real, I can tell you that the first thing you need to be isa size 8 if you are that height.

The camera really beefs you out, trust me!

That's if you wanna be a catwalk highfashion-esque model.

If you are considered pretty by your classmates, this may not cut it in that type of industry.

however, if you are looking to do catalogues, glossy mags like cosmo for beauty editorialsand the like, the prettier the better.

As retired model (old lady!!),I am 5 11', very dark, have chiselled features, would be described as stunning to artists, probabably way too afrocentric for Beyonce fans..did Paris catwalks and uber shoots, stuff like that.

If you're in the UK, try contacting a hairdressers like desmond murray and volunteer to do a shoot for the various hairshows that take place annually...this can give you basic experience, exposure and an idea if it's what you want to pursue.

Do not pay for any pictures from people that say you can be next thing!!

I kno a chick who is doin petite modelling (she's about 5ft"3 and generally petite models normally range from 5ft"2 - 5ft"6 and weigh no more than 112llbs...sound marga too me but hey...). Well, I live in Bermuda @ the moment and i was askedif i was interested in being in a swimsuit calendar, which isthe best calendar in Bermuda. So when i toke photoshoots forthe job, a photogragher from New York that was taking the pictures asked me if i would be interested in modeling overseas, he said that i had a unique look. I told him yes, cause i know he was a professional photograher, he takes pictures of celebs and music artists. So he toke and extra few shoots of me and said that he will show them to his peoples, so i waited and waited, actually i totally for got about it, until i got a phone call like 4 months after to come NY to do some work, and i have been doing it ever since. So i guess it was just luck, cause i happend to be the only girl out of 12 from the calendar he had asked.

If tha,s what u want to do go for it girl .
