I think this is very interesting. There is allways a mention of the words third world country.

Why say a country is in a third world when the categories for first and second havent been explained. LOL

There is no coincidence that most of the time an African is seen in the same light as third world.

I assume the first and second world countries are looked at as being better whoever they are.

But if the categories havent been explained then why throw the saying "third world" out there?

we find it to be a "racist" term
.................................................. ...........
The term "First World" refers to so called developed, capitalist, industrial countries, roughly, a bloc of countries aligned with the United States with more or less common political and economic interests: North America, Western Europe, Japan and Australia.
"Second World" refers to the former communist-socialist, industrial states, (formerly the Eastern bloc, the territory and sphere of influence of the Union of Soviet Socialists Republic) today: Russia, Eastern Europe (e.g., Poland) and some of the Turk States (e.g., Kazakhstan) as well as China.
Third World" are all the other countries, today often used to roughly describe the developing countries of Africa, Asia and Latin America.
The term Third World includes as well capitalist (e.g., Venezuela) and communist (e.g., North Korea) countries as very rich (e.g., Saudi Arabia) and very poor (e.g., Mali) countries.

IT IS A RACIST TERM AND WHY COME YOU DONT HEAR THE SO OTHER WORLD COUNTRIES NAMED AS FIRST OR SECOND? YOU NEVER SEE IT ON NEWSPAPER OR HEAR IT ON TV.

I WILL TELL YOU.

BECAUSE THEY KNOW THAT IF YOU MENTION ALL THREE PEOPLE WILL FIGURE OUT THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THIS.PEOPLE WILL JUST GET TIRED OF HEARING IT.

MENTION OF JUST THIRD WORLD ALLOWS PEOPLE JUST TO IGNORE IT BUT IT GOES IN THE SUBCONCIOUS DEFINATELY. THAT IS THE RACIST INTENTION.

ITS RACIST BECAUSE BY LABELING THIRD MEANING THAT THE OTHERS ARE BETTER.

THIS RACIST TACTIC IS BIGGER THAN IT SEEMS BECAUSE ITS JUST THREE WORDS BEING MENTIONED. THE TACTIC WORKS BECAUSE OF THE EVIL ONES WORLD VIEW THAT HAS ALLREADY BEEN FORCED TO PEOPLE.

IF YOU JUDGE A COUNTRY SUB CONSCIOUSLY IN THE SAME LIGHT YOU JUDGE THE PEOPLE TO A DEGREE EVEN THOUGH THEY MIGHT NOT BE TOTALLY IN FAULT OF THEIR SITUATION.

@Chairman Mao Tse Tung coined the phrase and used it in a speech at his first vist to the UN and it was quite a positive designation at the time.

These countries like Nigeria ('superpower' of Africa),Saudia Arabia, and etc. arealready defunct. These placesdo nothing for their people which are a rapidly growing half starved and repressed population (Nigerian 'police/ex soldiers' and extreme repression in both of these countries come to mind).Saudi Arabia and Nigeriagive us a break. The 'monarchy'/'elite' hoards that money and shit on the people. It doesn't trickle down in any way for the living standard. They live in wretched conditions. The countries are put based up to a Western standard which may unfortunately may not be fair but how it is done and will continue to be done. This topic is a dead end.I believe there arevery fewAfrican countries that have reached Second World status. It is not a big plot and if you individually study very detailed into these countries history then you will see why they are in these positions....

if you read afrika's story it tells you
Afrika didn't get into these conditions
until the wt man came into their lands
destroying, stealing, conquering, lying, practicing genocide
and now using deadly germ warfare....

Despite the connotation of the term 'third world' to day as meaning 'underdeveloped or 'poor' It is in fact a political category that originated after world war 2.

It implied 'positive neutralism' in the context of the Cold War. The idea was first adopted by the 'movement for Afro-Asian solidarity and then by the Non-aligned Movement and Group of 77.

Membership of these groups was largely made up of former colonies (independant nation states)

With the massive influx of these ex colonies in the 50's and 60's the emphasis of the group, thus the term 'third world' switched from 'independence' to 'developement'.

If we do not have an accurate analysis of the problem, we cannot possibly develop a good strategy to resolve it.

You're right, Priestess! Africa was an advanced continent until the white man came and f**ked it up.Nevermind that in the 15th century, when Europeans finally traveled into sub-Saharan Africa, the people they discovered there were still living in tribal societies, centuries behind Europeans in terms of technology and societal structure (tribal). Of course, this is somehow the fault of the white man.

May I suggest you do some research and study of real history? As opposed to the European history comic books you have been reading to come up with that ridiculous statement.

I don't get your reference to Tahliba's post. It explained the origin of the term.confused3
