BE COOL WITH FIRST TIME POSTERSSSSSS!!!!!!!!

Self-righteousness is the secret envy of what we fear to embrace in society. Whena new BN poster posts, orasks awkward or adversethread that most of us don't think should be asked, and we don't agree or share with their common agenda, we tend to rant with them intounwarranted name calling.

In all cultures SELF-RIGHTEOUS is preached against, but what I have seen here, I truly believe many people, including me, and specially most posters in here, aren't sensative to it. I don't know why? For me,I'm working on it...but I think I might be a little bit to harsh for some of them, when they post things that I think are sh*ty on my perspective without looking theirs. In one time, a new poster asked what race he/she was, and I replied,

Ur a horse, take the finger off your arse!!!!!! You see, see, see, that's bad. I did this not to make fun of the individual, but was surprisedsome one will ask a suchquestion. And I replied withouttaking into account that He/she could have been retarded, younger, andreally was confused aboutto which race he/she is.

SO DON'T WEAR THE EXPERT BADGE NEXT TIME, WHEN YOU AIN'T ONE. RESPECT THEM "NOT RACIST POSTERS" AND SAY, I'D RATHER NOT PISS THEM OFF.

If someone asks a stupid question they will get a stupid response, regardless of whether it's a first time or old time poster. Half ofthe new peopledon't read other threads before starting their own so they will get people's back up if they start a topic that has been done to death. Also, some of these so called new people turn out to be old people using different names and starting trouble on purpose. So just because u can seewhen a person joined and how many posts they have done, doesn't mean u should automatically give them a bly.

Ok, but most of the time, those who come up with silly sh*t are not the long time posters?

My point with this, wasn't about first time posters, but how we reply tothings one knows not!! Most of us, new or old, try to be an expert on every thing, while infact we aren't one.

How would u know a genuine first time poster to an old imposter?

I can't speak for everyone but when I post a response it is based on my own experience, experience of people I know, and the knowledge I have on the particular subject. Sometimes I post a jokey response or a blatantly rude one, but if the person that started the thread took offense then they should let me know.

I DON'T, AND YOU DON'T, that's why we shouldn't rush to indulge with them.

It's good to hear that you base your experiences, with what you adviceor give reply to, but believe me, many don't and it'ssad. By the way, I don't think, it's notbad to give an advice or descent one, if you haven't experienced what's being discussed.

Do you agree that, every onetries to bethe expert. Give a little respect to the poster, since you have no idea what he she went through. Many assume to know all, and give out very failing advices. That's why we shouldn't rush tothings one knows not. If this isn't SELF-RIGHTEOUS, I don't know what is!!!!!!!!

This isn't about how to treat new posters, but not to be self-righteousness, and assume a position of no return, when the poster comes to his/her senses. WTF it looks I should have worded this better!!!!!!!

No problem. So what do you think about self-righteousness?

Actually slightly offtopic.gifit is not possible to claim that another person is self-righteous unless they have claimed to be it themselves. Self-righteous is where a person believes themselves to be righteous in their own estimation. So when we say a person is being self-righteous simply by virtue of interpreting the things they say or the way they act as being words/acts of self-righteousness we are not strictly being correct in defining them as such. We are only assuming that they believe themselves to be righteous - something very few admit to being.

However, just about everyone of us believe ourself to beright (in our own eyes) with the viewpoint we hold or the way we see things. Who knows maybe we are all self-righteous and only deluding ourselves that we are being objective, fair and balanced in the way we look at things.

Until someone post to these boards and then qualify what they say with the words 'I actually believe that everything I have just written is entirely incorrect and has no basis in truth or logic', I will continue to assume that we all come here with our own brand of self-righteousness -old and new posters alike.

Respect

There are those who feel that the only way to ‘prove their own worth’ is by ‘devaluing the worth of others’. You will often find that a man who is compelled to measure his substance against the substance of another, has little of substance in the first place!

Backatya, Very good. Iagree with you thatSelf-righteousisborn with us,and means those who trust themselves that they are right. However I didn't point out well, the self-righteousness I was reffering, those who displayed it through an arrogant and proud attitude.Thou shalt not judge actions one not lived.

Not bad, we hadvery warm weatherin the state of 10 lakes. By the way, that's right this state has so many lakes.

Not really. You have to have the facts, before making unwarrented call. Lets take this further; I don't know if you have met people like these, but I have a childhood friend, who always seems to know what's good for others (he says, they should go to church, instead of buying that, should have donated, why go out with her/him, .........!!!!!!!! Yeah right, right). Many times we have some talk about it, and he still things it's ok, to judge people's actions without reallyasking or having concrete evidence to what they aretalking or have done is what I call this self prophesy. As you know heain't a lone on this, and in here, asyou know, when one asks things that you or me, may not like, ordisagree, many people tend to goerrate about they shouldn't say that or is wrong, and display thisthrough an arrogant and proud attitude.

offtopic.gif

This is riduculous!

According to my thesaurus, the title 'self-righteous'had 'sanctimonious' in its lists of linked words.

sanctimonious adj affecting or simulating holiness or virtuousness, esp hypocritically

Let me get really pedantic and say the use of the word'we' on these boards is also wrong, because its certainly neverall of us, butnamely specific individuals, unlessyouKNOW it's defintely all of us lol!
