But I remember getting into an argument with a red-faced white man at the train station for having to shell out a lot of dough for a train that took me from Heathrow to central London and then got into itat a McDonalds for having to shell out more cash for a nasty hamburger.

Then.....

I had to cuss theNigerian security officer out on the train back to the airport because he didn't want to hear my complaints!

I had PLANNED to save a few of the pounds I had as souveneirs, but ended up having to spend them all just to get back to the airport.

On the DLR, if they catch you... so what? Walk off the train at next stop and get on next train innit? They are like every 2 or 3 minutes so thats a minor.

Coltrane,

If you think that the UK is expensive, come to the US and live. The bad part about is that what you pay for most times isn't what the money is worth fo rthe home. It's interesting I was putting myself in a hypothetical situation in Africa. I looked at some of those homes---they are really beautiful and I was talking about a friend of mines about my dad. He's retired. He's get's 3000 dollars a month( at least in the South). 3000 isn't that bad in the US, but what would what it be like in her part of the world. She told me that he'll be considered a rich man and that he'll be able to afford the home and more. Some of them homes are far more worth getting than here and the states.

I don't see how yall do it.

No wonder the food portions are so small...and the people too....

I'm not used to peeling off paper "bills" just to buy a can of soda-pop.

Staying in Europe just one week damn near wiped out my bank account.

At the end of the week, I understood why so many people hung around the park taking strolls and watching the birds; they can't afford to do anything else!

What is the monthly rental rate for a: 1 bedroom apartment, a 2 bedroom apartment in and around London? That really depends on the area - I would guess for a 1 bed flat, starts at around £90 p/w, £120 for a 2 bed.
What is the average price of a New Home/old 2 bedroom home? Again, it depends on the area - both new builds and older properties are roughly the same. I would say it would start at around £150,000.

What is the average 40 hour work week salary? The average wage is £22,000 per annum.

What is the salarypoint poverty line there? If you earn around £15,000, you get help i.e Tax Credits.

How much does a loaf of bread cost in the Uk? 70p+ (for name brands - I suppose it's slightly cheaper for store brands).
