You won't buy a damn thing with that. Not a damned thing. Maybe some rotten studio flat in a nasty neighbourhood on the outskirts with no travel links... but I reckon even that is outside your budget lol...
It's NOT about buying property out here mate.
I'm curious, given That most of the Black population is from elsewhere and it is so expensive there, what is the end game? Is the intention to amass a fortune and return to the Continent and the Islands?
Oh and in terms of space, what is the average size of a 2 bedroom house with a study?

@Masoi
although property is expensive, their are plenty of black people that can afford it. Not all black people live below poverty line.
I mean seriously..................if no one could afford to live in London, then they would'ave left.

My thinking on this matter is that given the impression that people aren't about assimilating and that the place is expensive regardless of personal incomes, does it make more sense to amass a fortune and split? When prices rise if I don't own or choose not to buy into a market with inflated pricing I simply relocate. The USA is my home so I simply go to another state but since many people have expressed a desire to help Africa and the Caribbean (their home nations) by attending Universities, getting job experience and establishing contacts I figured the endgame may have been to go back where they came.

@ Masai
middle ground...
most peopls have gov homes called council homes (some of which they can buy in certain circumstances) or else they rent privately.
The majority of homeowners in the UK especially recently bought to let their propeties.

Hi DM long time no see.
London is indeed a very expensive place to live in. At my last jobi used to get£3000 a year Londong Weighting, barely covered travel cost and lunch. Now i get market rate so no London Weighting :Pbut then i walk to work.
Anyway adding to what DM said those who got the best deal in the house market arethe oneswho managed to bag themselves a council flat/house. After 3 years you are allowed to buy the flat and untila couple of yearsago you got 35%? discount.
Many of my family members bought their homes this way, and about half sold out a few years ago at the hight of the boom and moved back to Africa with tons of money .

Free, I can go one better on the meat thing. There is a grimey ass pub next to where I live. The asian youth in the manor (junkies) rob the Iceland across the road, run through the estate and come into the pub and sell their stuff to the landlord who sells it behind the bar.
Now you can get, all the meats, ridicolously low priced Sirloin etc, and deoderants, wines etc etc all for silly money and boxed properly. If you are THAT grimey. Only reason I don't anymore is because there is a new Tescoes next door and that is better food.
Cashconverters is a good shop for those scared of ebay. At least you get a garuntee there. Oh you can get jewelry there too and then polish it an resell it if you have time.

My brother is a great one for hustling. He always "knows someone" who can do this and that. I'm such a scaredy cat, I wouldn't dream of using a TFL annual card I bought for £50 - wish I had the guts.
There used to be great markets, like East Street and Petticoat Lane. Now, you may as well buy from a shop, unless you buy from my places.

How Do You Afford To Live In The UK? A few years ago I had credit cards bills coming at me from all directions, Just get rid of them and use a debit card instead, you will soon think twice before spending large amounts when it comes direct from your account.

If the EU gets its way and clamps down on all our hours what will we do? Hmmm

Can anybody tell me how long we are allowed to work each day. I think it is 75 hours a week, Im not sure, but I have no idea what it is for each DAY.
EU has got already voted away OUR opt out of the maximum 48 hour week(avg 9.5 hr/day) this will happen over 3 years.
Best learn to live without an option of overtime, my overtime at work are extra days not hours.

I get my gear from the states, I just came back from columbus and it's a lot cheaper than canada thought when you convert from Canadian to American.. it's not a big difference but quality.
Lol@ drunkmonkey
You knowwe used to do the same thing at the drug store with the free sample clognes, just wear iton the store and your set for the club. But this was when I was 15 and 16, now I gotta a safepart time job to cover me.

nowadays I don'twant smelly bottled water because it's beneath me! Have more common sense to be throwing money away like that on foolishness and more common sense than to be desiring the foolishness in the first place.
Jay Jay

Mafdet
Now that is TOO grimey. Even I have my limits!! The stuffI bought was boosted from a shop I used to shop in anyways, all packaged in plastic!... ain't no way Im buying some random animal some dirty beggars killed in their nasty kitchen... URGH!!

@ DM or ALL:
What are the costs of owning a car in the UK? I have two older models in the USA and Insurance is less than $2000 a year for both. Is it possible to own on the average wage without the overtime and hustling?
What are the starting wages for public services workers:
Teachers: Boston $37,000 average starting pay
Social workers: USA $ 35,000
