I dont think any1 of this day and age could stomach going to an abattoir. We're too anaesthetised. But some of our parents/grandparents will tell u just how they had to prepare the chicken... guinea fowl etc...
Should it stop us from eating meat. Are we supposed to? Why?

Lol. Why not just look at "Hunting on the Sarengeti (SP?)", and then mechanize and multiply it. I personally don't see anything wrong with eating meat, just as the lions, tigers, and bears dont.

Probably.
I eat meat, simply because the alternatives are just as bad. And asI find eating a chore, I'm not going to further complicate matters.

Have killed and slaughtered animals for consumption my damn self and felt no way...
I have digestive enzymes that help break down meat and a liver that helps absorb it into me. I have teeth designed for tearing and ripping meat and taste buds which desire it.
No challenge

i learnt how to kill livestock while i was still a young boy
during trips to jamaica
when i kill a goat, it seems to taste better than if someone else does
knowing all that is involved in the preparation of the food that sits on your plate
i think is an important education

Have you been to a slaughterhouse? Or are you implying that killing livestock yourself gives you a good picture of an abattoir?
@bm
i've killed cattle in jamdown which can only legally be done in abattoirs.

@ BM
Assumptions bro, my bad. I assumed you were laying an attack on meat eaters from a veggie standpoint...
No I have no been to an abotoir, I don't think it necessary either. Im far from sqeaumish, but I reckon such a place would hold no suprises for me.
Killing one animal for my or my family's consumption is one thing but watching thousands being killed is a bit much. I don't eat thousands, I just eat a bit of one so I don't see the connection between the mass slaughter and my plate. It's merely the most efficient way to do a thing.

@ BM...
I wasnt having a go luv... but like DM says we got enzymes for these things. Our bodies are able to kitted out out to eat it meat. Might not be the healthiest choice right now but we can(I know its not the question u asked).
That aside personally i dont like the smell of the butchers much let alone go to an abattoir, but im sure that at a wholesome setting of a dinner table n hot and steaming food, thoughts of abattoir are lost niceone.gif
