You know I just saw Tupac: Resurrection the other day and I must say my opinion of him has been lifted quite considerably. I just want to know what other's think about him. Is he an idiot that feigned intelligence or a prophet thaqt chose gangsta rap as his medium? Would the world be better if he was still alive? Is it better that he's dead? Who do you think killed him and do you really think he's dead? Please forgive me if this topic has already been addressed because I suspect it has.

Neither.....the man to me was a confused soul with the potentialsage to do wonderful stuffs. But like R Kelly, he self destroyed himself and never utilised his god given gifts fully.

The problem with him, apart from his own weaknesses, he was also a victim of American society....a society where the potential of most African American are never expanded.....Tupac could have done with leaving the US and traveling the world to realise that thug life is not synonymous with being black and coming from the Gheto........but like R Kelly, he preferred to stay around to waste himself and never really utilizing much of what he had to do positive things......you can't be going around calling women bitches and whores, then next minutesing a wonderful tribute toyour mother.......thats just ****ed, thats not the evidence of a *prophet* at work....its the evidence of a confused and tortured soul with a bit of a creative brain which needs a hell lot of work on......but he never took it.

I've also watched that documentary. It was very well done but I have to agree with Dimoke. I loved the guy but he was confused which is why we are confused about him.

i can see where you're coming from dimoke, i dont think he wasted himself totally. come on...that's just not fair to say. he achieved a lot in his life, though he may not have done it all in savoury ways.

with regards to the original question,

i think he was a thug in many ways, however, he was also full of intelligence. it is possible to be both niceone.gif

Tupac was a normal brother - there are Tupacs all over the world, but they dont use their gifts.

One thing we have to remember is he was only 25 when he died, that is such a young age and a lot of men have not done loads of things before this time. Maybe if he had died at 50+ we would have seen the completed circle of Tupac as opposed to the arc.

We all are a contracdiction onto ourselves. If we all really uncensored our minds and spoke about how we truly feel all the time, nobody would be understood!!

I can relate to him and i can understand that he can slag women of and then hail them as queens. He obvioulsy had opinions as a youth that changed as he got older, but it doesnt mean that because you have changed, that the thug has left the building.

I can completly empathise with that, becasue that is how i am as well, a crazy mixture of two sides of my life.

You have to look at someones life before you analyse them because we are not carbon copies of each other. He had a mum addicted to drugs, a dad that wasnt always around. He moved around a lot while he was younger and all these things will influence someones outlook, and other people may have difficulty understanding them.

If you grow up without the love 'you' want from your parents (especially son to mother and daughter to father) it will effect you. Of course that will shadow his opinion of women. If it is hard to respect your own mother how are you going to be able to respect girls on the road, who is Pac's case would generally want him for his fame??

It would need him getting some maturity or meeting a girl that changes your mind about how you have seen things to effect his outlook.

The other day i was speaking tosome friends and we all grew up in Stonebridge, we were discussing how much the mentality of the area had influenced us and so many others. Why so many prosperous young brothers had fell back and still remained selling weed from the block over 10 years later. We came to the conclusion that they were so accepted in 'their' world whilst they were younger, that when it is time to go into the real world they realise that everything they thought was substantial, didn't mean sh*t anymore.

They have isolated theirselves to certain types of people and certain places that they cant function successfully out of it. Even if they move out they still have to come back all the time because that is where they feel at home / accepted, plus it is easier. They know where they satnd in that world and that is why they cant shake it off when they get older / famous or whatever the case may be, because it is part of their identity.

Imagine if someone gave you 20 million pounds and said "take this, buti want you to move far away from your area, cut off all of your friends and never return". For some that may be possible, but some people really need validation from their 'peeps', and that is why they will always return.

~Peace~

Kat,

Tupac was a poison, whether he was the arsenic in apple seeds or Snake venom him and his music and embarassing media forays brought Black Americans back100 paces collectively. Even in his death many fools are worshipping him. What an example of a walking contradiction. A son of a Panther, a media clown, using poignant songs to entrap/snare the young and old with his BS. Now that, his legacy is that of a SELLOUT!

I just cant stand it when people are quick to judge sum1 they no nuffin about. they think they know wot he's about wen they see all the media controversies in his lifetime but i bet they neva took the time to listen to his word. well if u did u wud see that he is a POETIC GENIUS.

yes i agree he woz a little twisted with a split personality, but if u experienced his tribulationi would love to see howyou would cope.

If you could walk a mile in my shoes then you'd be crazy too-tupac.

He was a Talented Clown who knew how to herd Sheep! From a musical standpoint he was unique but being the son of Black Panthers and engaging in all the BS he did it made no sense. The Fukker did the movie Juice and decided to Stay in Character, he realized people believed the Character and stuck with it. Prior to his solo days he was a member of Digital Underground, he was a Roadie. Dude was poisoned, I can't entirely Blame America on this one Cher, no he made the decision to go this route back in the Juice days. He had the panther upbringing, went to a performing arts school and more. If he was really as thorough as he played to be we wouldn't have had too many moments of getting shot, beaten up and more.

1stly The Great man always stressed he was in no way a role model, I perceive him to be both a Thug & Teacher hence the fact that he was full of contradictions is naturally fitting after all we as Human Beings have many faces and sides to our personalities. We (if normal that is) are constantly changing and evolving and perceiving things from differing perspectives take Malcolm X for example he went from a militant white devil hater to a more calm and concise individual does that make him and his memory less? I am biased as I am a great fan of Tupac and loved the way in one song he could be hyper macho braggadocia and then another a deep, conscious sensitive breh I think that was his appeal he wasn't a saint he did make mistakes but he could identify his demons but sadly he battled withhis demons til the end. GOD BLESS TUPAC AMARU SHAKUR R.I.P
