A few months ago on another forum I got into a discussion about family love.
I was surprised that some people believed that it was wrong to love one family member more than another. I thought everyone did--as do I.
I love my Father more than anyone on earth; more than my mother or my siblings. I love my eldest sister more than my other sister..
What are your feelings on this?

I believe parents love their kids the same, but might like one more than the other.

first
their is a difference between loving on parent more than the other or getting on well with one parent more than the other.
In my family its
me and my dad
sister and mum
I get on well with my dad
but I LOVE both parents..............
same with my mum..........i know she loves me and some of the characters that I hold...........but her and my sister get on well with each other.
lets not get mixed up between the two type of feelings.

I used to think my mum loved my sister more than she loved me...I think @ one point she did-Im not the easiest child to live with (but then neither is my sister ).
However, I grew to realise that my mother loves us both in different ways and I cannot expect her to love us in the same way because we are not the same person. As long as the love is there and she is seen to be doing for the both of us I dont have a problem.
I love my mum more than I will ever and could ever love my father-that is how it is and how it should be in my situation...but then I guess that is different from what the author meant.
Btw even if you do love one parent more or one sibling more I do not think it is necessary to tell the other person-that is cruel (unless u have a Dad like mine )

In my opinion, "Love" is the most overused and least understood word/concept in the Western Society.

LOVE is not a "feeling"...it is a Force...a DIVINE force...which we are all capable of expressing or acting on. LOVE compels the Lover to seek to serve the Highest Good of his/her Beloved.

It's quite natural. Everybody in my family hates my sister equally.

Seriously though:
As to loving family members.
They're aspects of my mother's personality whichI find agreeable and others whichI hate.
The same goes more my sister though she has a higher percentage of things I dislike about her.
My brother I've alot of time for, but again he has a part of his character which I can't get on with.
The same goes for my dad. It's not a question of whetherI love them more than each other, becauseI don't...However my affection for them tends to be conditonal.
It's just at times I have more affinity with some of them than I do with others. Depending on the situation, sometimes I'd rather be around my sister more than the rest of them, at other times I'd rather be around my dad. It's not a constant thing.
And personallyI wouldn't call it love anyway,I don't like the word.
