It would make our lives easier however, we would loose control of our identities. And the way things are now, I feel more people would want it introduced because of fear and security.

This is why it will be pushed as "a matter of convenience". If you tell someone that instead of having to pull out their ID badge, open their bags, and submit to a strip search every time they get on a plane, then people will go for it. ("I can bypass this line in security? Cool.") The government will also find a way to tie this into your finances. ("By holding my hand in front of this scanner I can buy food without having to carry around cash, checks, or ID? Cool.") It will also be tied into your health and insurance info. ("If I get into an accident the paramedics will know what medicines I'm allergic to, and the hospital will not have to waste any time with paperwork? Cool.") You might even use a scanner connected to your computer to log in. ("I don't have to remember 15 different passwords for email, online banking, paying my bills, etc.? Cool.")
