I think you need to distinguish between brainwashing and what I like to call brainsoiling.
Brainwashing assumes there is somthing already there to be cleaned out and replaced. This applies to people over 15 years old maybe.
If you are starting with a baby then presumably there is nothing there to wash out. Europeans talk about the "tabala rasa" or blank table. The psychologists call this the socialization process. Putting garbage into childrens minds so they serve the imperialistic empire not their own interests.
You have to select the right books and BELIEVE NOTHING.
It is also useful to check out books that are attacked by AUTHORITY. The Economist magazine said that Vance Packard was wrong, but he talked about psychological manipulation in the advertising industry and planned obsolescence. Economists don't say much about that.
